Someone posted on another forum that it was the same widescreen transfer, but lacks the special features...and is a DVD-R. So, it's basically a bootleg.

I can't chime in on Slipstream and River Gate, but I know for a fact that Creature on SGL's Vimeo page (a friend of mine saw it on his ipod) is the same uncut widescreen master used on Willam Malone's DVD but in native HD, so there's hope this label may finally have the other two in decent quality...

So now there's concern that it'll be a sloppy upscale of the director's cut rather than an upscale of the ancient VHS masters that lurked on many crappy public domain releases over the years.

That's slightly better news, but still not something to get excited over.

Will this be 3 separate discs or all cramped onto 1 disc? I'm getting a "Moontrap" vibe here in terms of video quality, but hopefully I'm wrong about that.

According to William Malone on FB, this is an illegal disc.

Some guy on Amazon has already reviewed so when I questioned him, he said it was a review copy. Waiting for him to post a link to it now

So will this release get pulled as fast as Malone's DVD was? Why was Malone forced to pull his release when there are countless PD releases out there? Is only the theatrical release PD, but Malone's DC isn't PD because it's an alternate cut? Does MGM still own the film outright? If so, then does that mean Malone's release was also "illegal" and that's why he pulled it? Or did Malone pull it because he had a pending better deal with someone that never panned out? So many questions, in my eyes, over a very mediocre film.

If this comes out before being cancelled and it's in widescreen and the DC, I'll still buy it, though. I like Kinski.

I saw that exchange. The guy said he reviewed it for a magazine... which happens to be owned by the same company that is releasing the Blu-ray. Sketchy.

But what about "Slipstream"? There'a german DVD that's supposed to be approximately 1.78:1. Maybe they used the same master (or even the DVD itself) for this new release. AFAIK the movie has never been transfered in the orginal 2.35:1 ratio.

I saw Slipstream in the cinema in the UK when it first came out,at 1.85:1.

Also I did a little online research and found out that the german DVD is 1.33:1.
So we'll see what master they will use for the Blu-ray.

I used to like Kinski until I discovered what a monster he was. Now I have a hard time watching his films. I have zero respect for him now. I do still like Creature for nostalgic reasons, but even that is hard for me to like now with Kinski in it.

So I just got my copy! Amazon.ca shipped 2 months early for some reason. Anyways, here's the lowdown. This is a BD-R, as expected. None of these transfers look like anything more than upscaled DVD rips. Incident at Raven's Gate is anamorphic wide-screen, Slipstream on NON-anamorphic but still wide-screen and probably looks the worst of the bunch. And Creature is...


Anamorphic wide-screen and looks pretty darn decent! On screen title is The Titan Find, so if I had to venture a guess, they got ahold of one of those dvds from William Malone and ripped that transfer.

Do you happen to know if The Titan Find opened up with a Transworld Logo? (the copy I once saw on YT did and had Malones logo up first, meaning the uploader ripped it from that DC DVD WM put out). If it does, then its very likely the same upscaled master as WM's DVD, or at least an HD version of it (since SGL's Viemeo channel has it for rent and appeared to be in proper HD and not from an upscale when I saw it).

so I bought this Blu-Ray and popped it in. Slipstream is full screen and DVD quality. Creature clocks in at 1 hour 39 minutes and some odd seconds and is in 2.35 aspect ratio. It looks good to my eyes but I'm guessing it's an upscale of the Directors Cut DVD. For now, it's the best this movie has looked.
