But can't believe that Star Wars is worth 4 Billion. That number is astronomical.
The 4 billion also includes ILM and other franchises like Indiana Jones.

Does this also mean that Star Wars will now be in the Vaulted category in the future?

This also means that if/when the Star Wars TV Show gets made... ABC will be where it'll likely air.

Plus with Disney in charge, maybe the high production costs for the series will actually not be such an issue.

I thought it would have been more. They are almost at 2 billion at gross for just the movies. Doesn't include merchandise or anything else ...

Impossible. The last 4 crummy movies (yes, that includes Return of the Jedi) were checklist film-making at its worst. Instead of creating great stories, he made films to sell toys. It's been 35 years since Lucas made a good film. I'm sure someone else (cough, Tarantino, cough) could do better.

I hope they don't actually do that....like they did with Tron Legacy by having a young CG Jeff Bridges .

Im looking forward to this as long as its not anything like the clone wars animated movie, the series is good but the film was baddddd.
Was bitten by the hype of episode 1 and flew over to New York to watch it on opening day, that wont happen again for me .
Just hope theres more action in it , the prequels pace was dragged out until episode 3 where he had too much to cram into it.

I am happy about this news. Pershaps they can reboot the franchise and bring in somebody who can actually write and pick out talent. Lucas had his day, but it has been downhill for a long time.

Eh, the Star Wars films seem worse to me now than they ever did. They need a new vision. This can only help them. I wish they'd just make an all cgi one that looks like "The Old Republic".

Also I dunno if this has been posted yet but the deal also include the rights to Indiana Jones and according to Disney's Robert Iger: Disney will release a new STAR WARS film every two to three years.

True but Star Wars amounted for at least 3 of the 4 billion

Now with Marvel and Lucasfilm under one roof, I for one am eagerly awaiting the gritty "Howard the Duck" reboot....

The Duck Knight Returns!

Disney could recoup at least a third of the purchase price for Lucasfilm by releasing the original theatrical versions of the films on Blu-ray alone! And if they do super special editions of those blu's, they'll make even more $$$. All those people who were crying for those versions will happily buy again. I know I will, and I'm not even a big Star Wars fan.

My only fear will be the studios' attempt to cross-promote with other Disney properties, which I believe to be in very poor taste. I mean, if I see Jack Sparrow grabbing a light saber and dueling with Jar Jar Binks in a future sequel I'm gonna tune out permanently

Which is good.

I don't really get the naysaying, or paranoia, or suggestions of absolutely ridiculous fanfic-tier crossovers. The next Kingdom Hearts game will probably rock, but I don't expect Star Wars, Disney and Marvel characters to start showing up in eachother's films, lol.
