Didn't realise "I'm a Cyborg.." was so hard to find. There are a few copies available on amazon.co.uk if anyone's looking for it.

I've got "Poetry" but have yet to watch it. I've heard a lot of good things about "My Sassy Girl" - need to pick up a copy of this. I haven't heard of "Windstruck" - looks like Amazon have every version available except for the English sub

How violent is Oldboy? Is it in the Saw/Hostel category or is it closer to e.g. Battle Royale or Kill Bill?

It's bloody and somewhat violent in short segments. There are other elements to Oldboy you'd probably find more disturbing.

I've also heard a lot of good stuff about My Sassy Girl so I'm going to rent it from my library. Korean romantic comedies can be and are often just as dumb as anything from Hollywood so hopefully this movie will be different.

Does Windstruck have an official USA release, or should I be looking for another version with English subs? I'm finding it hard to work out which version I need.

Bought My Sassy Girl (directors cut) - waiting for it to be delivered.

I have this one.

This is the LE, but presumably the other Korean editions look the same (which is fine).

By the way, I've read somewhere that this is the "director's cut" of the film. Is that true? If so, what's the HK disc?

The HK disk seems to be 2 minutes shorter than the Korean version (123 minutes vs 125 minutes):

Default Gangnam 1970

Gangnam 1970 is scheduled to open this Friday at CGV in Los Angeles-Koreatown.
The Director is Yoo Ha, known for Once Upon a Time in High School & A Dirty Carnival.

Trailer looks good. I can't link it with my phone. I'll try later on the computer.

Anybody else gonna check this out?

Definitely a fan of the director's work. Once Upon a Time In High School being my favorite. A Frozen Flower was also very good. His last offering, The Howling, while I still liked, didn't quite match up.
So I'm definitely looking forward to this one. Pretty sure it's gotten really good reviews too.

Ive recently just started picking up some Korean movies on BR since before that my Korean selection was being bought on DVD. Over the past month ive picked up the following BRs: Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, the Korean remake to A Better Tomorrow & imported the Korean BRs of Thirst & A Tale of Two Sisters (lenticular limited edition). Waiting for Korean import BRs to come in the mail, cant wait.

It's a lot better than standard Hollywood romcom fare. It was mentioned earlier in this thread, but I really recommend Il Mare, another film with Jeon Ji-hyun. A truly beautiful movie that was remade as The Lakehouse (but don't let that put you off ).

Hello,

Does anyone know any info for this Japanese release of Failan, especially picture quality?

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/PBW-300253

It has English subtitle, but doesn't say about any languages. I don't like if they dubbed it. Also, notice the running time is 121 minutes, while Korean DVD is 115 minutes.

Should I just get the Korean or Japanese release?

That release is reported as not having English subs...

Oh, didn't realized there's already a thread about it. Thank you.

Well, I guess I get the Korean DVD, instead.

In past few days ive seen the following Korean films:

I Saw the Devil. Great film & id highly recommend it. Great story & tension. Wonderful acting from the main cast.

Thirst. After hearing some good things about it I decided to import the Korean BD since its the only way to get the original 144min cut. I didn't like this one too much. Some parts were very good but it has some long stretches where I thought it was a bit boring.

I didn't know there was a longer cut of Thirst than the 134 minutes on my UK release, but you say it's too long, so I think I'll stick with my UK release for my first viewing. Whenever I get to it
