Maybe Kino will get this and we can get a restored 4K. I know some folks have issues with the compression and authoring used by Kino on occasion but I would take Kino hands down over Shout. I’d love to see a seamlessly branched 4K of both versions.

Well this was technically done by a budget sub-label of Shout! If they remastered it under the Shout branding it would def be better than what Kino could do. I say this as a fan of both.

Yep. I don’t know why Shout can’t do that as well.

Curious bit - Robert Conrad appears in a cameo as one of the security people that escorts the crew from the plane into the conference room. He isn’t credited nor is it part of his filmography.

I found the commentary on the Japanese cut to be horrible.

I did not choose to see this film, others chose it for me because they knew I was (and still am) a space nerd. I had no idea the movie even existed until I started watching, so I knew nothing about the story line. As the film began, I was upbeat and excited. All right, they're going to Mars!

When the astronauts were ordered out of the spacecraft shortly before launch and instructed to fake the mission instead, I was just as shocked and angered as the astronauts were. I was psychologically immersed in their perspective, a level of immersion that would not be possible if I had read even a brief review of the film before deciding to watch it myself. I hope all of you have someone in your life who can pick a movie for younthat you've never heard of and will enjoy just as much as I enjoyed "Capricorn One".

If this movie was remade today,.I imagine the mission would be faked using a lot of CGI imagery.
