Isn't Blu-ray rumored to announce a 4K disc next year or no? I have not been following that as of late.

The rumor is that a 4K physical format will be announced next month at CES. We will just have to wait and see.

Let's hope so. This shouldn't be that complicated. Remaster all the movies(aside from Rocky Balboa), include all the extras, add some extras for II-V, and offering digital copies for the movies would be cool too.

I haven't watched the sequels, but I hear they are rather good and AVC encoded.

I thought it was already confirmed that there were not new extras or new transfers for the sequels.

Akijama said such in https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=110 but offered no support of where he/she is getting that information so, at this point, I'd say nothing is official on that issue.

On foreign sites, they explicitly say that only the first movie is getting remastered. Whether this has any sort of new extras is unknown, but they'll more than likely be for the first only, with the rest of the discs being identical to previous releases.

I think they're just trolling us at this point with that cover art. Just put this on the cover and be done with it...

That's a good price on the German release though, only 10.99 euros. Here's the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.de/Rocky-1-Blu-ray-Sylvester-Stallone/dp/B00GPGZAW6/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1387584647&sr=8-9&keywords=rocky

I find it interesting that it seems that the 4K TVs will be putting extra effort into making the built in TV speakers sound good, which is the opposite of what LCD/LED and plasma productions have done over the years.

Well, no matter how bad the sound may be on all the new HD tvs, everything still sounds a lot better on my Panny 32" than it did on my old 29" Sony tube, lol.

4K content on the 4K media player shown on that same page.

It'll make a good Steelbook cover. Apollo on the back and Rocky on the front. And when you open it, it creates the photo.

I'm not splitting hairs. That is not a format. It's handful of titles on a hard drive. That would be no different than ripping several BDs sticking them on a hard drive and playing them from one of my many HD displays.

If the 4K files have a unique protected extension/container then that can technically be considered a format.

Really? Because I have found that more effort was put in to the higher end CRT production of built in TV speakers then the ones made for LCD/LED and plasma. My LG Flatron for example has better internal speakers then the ones made for my far newer and more modern LCD/LED displays.

It seems that because CRT TVs were so big and bulky they could install larger and stronger speakers into them, where as for LCD/LED and plasma being so small and thin it meant that the speakers took a hit in quality. That's the way I looked at it anyway..

What it looks like to me is that these new 4K TVs are going back to the days of CRT in terms of making the built in speakers sound half decent..

Rocky's $117 mil domestic (+ Best picture Oscar) is way more impressive than IV's $127 mil domestic 9 years later. That's why. Not to mention, it's a terrible film. It doesn't deserve a "special edition."
