I had to use a USB drive, it downloaded but wouldn't install. After restarting PSN is undergoing maintenance. That would explain it I guess.

My PS3 on b/g downloads faster than PS4.

Seriously though, I hope Sony adds external dual band adapters like Xbox 360. I was shocked that the PS4 wasn't internal dual band like um.. iPads. Fingers crossed cuz I want 20mb not 1mb
Your network isn't setup properly then. DMZ your PS4.

It's free and will show you the channel and signal strength of all the surrounding access points so that you can set your wireless router to the clearest possible channel. The better your signal strength and the less overlap you have with others nearby, the better your latency and possible range will be.
This is wrong. Wireless N still uses 2.4 ghz as does Wireless G and B. The difference is the speed that is carried on the band that is different and the area it can cover. If you get a dual band router and use 5ghz then it can improve because you are on a different band.

Sony was getting too much praise and hype before launch, so they had to fix that.

Yes, but it wasn't installing for that long though, it kept telling me "This update could not be complete within the time frame allowed" so I had to keep trying to redownload it and finally it finished.

Probably not a bad idea, just in case. But it's a small updated, only took a few seconds to download, and a few minutes to install.

First thing I did was install the update via usb. It said it installed, everything looked fine. Went to watch a blu-ray that night, just got a spinning circle. WTF. Had to hard reboot the system to get out of the screen. Tried again with a different blu-ray, same thing. Both regular 2d movies.

Gave up and went back to the PS3 to watch the video (had a guest over).

After they left started messing around with the PS4 again and thought I might have a dud. Then I got a notification "Update 1.5 ready to install". WTF again? So I installed it, again. It completed and I could finally play the movie.

Since then I haven't had a problems, but wow, Sony actually shipped this console without the ability to play Blu-ray movies?

This was covered in the Playstation FAQ.

That you have might have to install the update twice?

I knew the update was required for 3D blu-ray, I didn't realize it was for movies period. I'm glad they had the update for day one, but damn what a **** up.

The update was required for bluray movies. 3D movies do not work at least according to FAQ havent tried it.

You are right. I thought the update was supposed to add 3D. Just tried it, and doesn't work. So guess it was just to actually play movies.

The more I spend with it the more I'm let down. There are some really good features and ideas but it just isn't polished and not ready for primetime. I've come across a few bugs just with the interface and that thing should have gone through months of hardcore QA. For example, I tried opening Vudu from "Library" and it just took me right back to the main menu. Turns out there was game not suspended in the background but no indication. If I ran Vudu from the TV & Video drop down, then I get the notice that "hey you have a game running, want to suspend?" Simple stuff like that.

Another is that you can't view subscriptions. I've gone into the settings for PSN, opened up the Services List and it says I have nothing. I have a 2 year subscription to PS+ but I can't view its status anywhere on the PS4. I can open up the PS3 and view the end date. It also shows me all of the games and their end dates including the ones for the PS4.

Sure it is launch week and some issues are to be expected but Sony has its work cut out for them.

What I do like is the general speed. Take the store. It is near unusable on the PS3. I still think it is an organized mess but at least it is quick. Downloading of games and updates is smooth and nice to see progress of each. Quick to suspend game and go do something else. The controller is great, other than the light that will quickly get some black electrical tape to cover it. I was surprised at how the speaker on it can really add to a game.

Strange, I thought updates were supposed automatically download and install while the system is in standby mode. I took my PS4 out of standby mode this morning and it gave me a notification that an update was available but it hadn't automatically downloaded and installed. I had to manually go and choose for it to update. Is there a setting somewhere that I need to enable for this to happen?

I thought you had to do it from the PS App set on Wifi?

Autoupdate needs to be turned on. I don't recall exactly where in the new XMB. You need to turn autobackup on for each individual game.

My power went out briefly. I still have PS3's, so I did not have room right away for PS4s to connect to UPC, so they shut down the wrong way. That's one risk of standby mode.

I find the comments on Blog funny.

One thing that should be optional is Notifications.

However, there should be an exact mimc of Xbox's Notifications. MS doesn't own the right to appear offline, busy or away. lol C'mon Sony! It's called Online status.

I like it the way it is but I can see how others wouldn't.
