Definitely, they would never get the budget again like the previous films. I don't think Sly would even think about the series going to direct to DVD as long as he is part of the cast.

Well this is a surprise, Stallone is actually listening to the fans.

Quote:
Sylvester Stallone said Friday that he hopes to film Expendables 4 in Asia.

Stallone and his co-star Arnold Schwarzenegger were in Macao for a premiere of Expendables 3 and received a hero's welcome on the red carpet. About 200 fans waited for hours to get a glimpse of the pair. Ronda Rousey, a UFC champion and the only female lead in the cast, also attended.

"As we go on, we will continue to add more stars, more personalities, more athletes, more individuals around the world, not just Americans. They'll be from all parts of the world. Hopefully, we'll be able to film in Asia very soon," said Stallone.

Stallone, who directed and wrote the first Expendables film, said he considered getting Hong Kong director John Woo to helm the third movie. He is keen to get Jackie Chan, Asia's most wanted action star, involved.

"We've always wanted to use Jackie Chan. The only reason we didn't…because there really wasn't a part big enough for him, because we had so many actors. But in the next one, we are going to reduce the actors, and let's just say, expand the screen time of each star," Stallone said.

Schwarzenegger said that one's nationality should not matter when hiring directors or actors.
"I go by talent. I think Asia has some really talented directors, the Austrians have some talented directors, the Americans have them, the French have them. So I think you just have to find the appropriate director, not to do it for political reasons, or not because it can raise more money if you hire an revered Asian director or an Austrian director. I think if you just get the right person," he said.

I think he now knows that his ego was out of control especially for EX 3, and its clearly not what the people want, especially for grand assembly films like these with so many stars in the cast to uderlize.

The Asian idea sounds interesting. I really hope he seriously minimizes the involvement of the young crew if not scrap them all together, and obviously go for a hard R rating.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I want the rough, hard edged tone of the first one in combination with the elevated scale/spectacle of the 2nd and 3rd ones.

I know its a pipe dream because its getting clearer and clearer that a 4th one won't see the light of day but still...

Yeah this is Stallone saying this and not Lionsgate so it may not happen. I agree, he knows now that most of the fans were not happy with the younger cast, the rating and the screen time of each action star. If he actually manages to get John Woo, that would be amazing. They could get Chow Yun Fat in the cast too along with Jackie Chan. The film doesn't need to have 10 big names show up for a few minutes throughout the film and I am glad Stallone agrees on this too.

We would defenetely see a lot more hand-to-hand combat with the best fighting choreography and stunt work in the whole series, hopefully complemented by the best directing and editing if the Asian connection takes off for a 4th movie. I would love to see a lot more of that. The first one again probably had the most of it, but it wasn't always really well shot or pieced together.

I say cut it down to the original expendables team with Arnold and Jet Li and a few other action stars. I would be all for proper choreographed fight scenes with Jason Statham, Jet Li and Jackie Chan etc.

I originally thought that Expendables 3 would be a hot mess.
Part 2 just left such a bad taste in my mouth. I drew the short end of the proverbial stick when selecting movies a while ago. I wasn't looking fwd to see it.

I saw it and I loved it. If part 3 is any indicator of how good 4 might be. I'll be looking forward to it.

Just a few thoughts. Make it R rated. Bring back JCVD (as his brother seeking revenge. Bring Mel back (did we really see him die). Unleash The Rock, he wants to do it. That way the bad guys have a chance. Let some of the Expendables die. Let Woo direct it. See if you can get Donnie Yen and Chow Yun Fat. Much more hand to hand combat. Please let Statham and JCVD square off. More screen time for Arnold and Jet Li. Really more screen time for everyone, especially for action. Make the story/plot halfway interesting. Kill off the young Expendables story. For some reason I want to see Nic Cage in this. Kurt Russell would be great, but he don't want to.
Just a few random thoughts.

I agree but the rock has never seriously said he would like to do an expendables film. To be honest I don't think they could afford to bring him on for EX4 now that each action star will have a proper role and not just brief appearances. If EX4 does happen the budget will be cut down due to EX3 underperforming.

Good points overall. A John Woo directed effort would be awesome. They could also add in some hand to hand combat and focus on just a few Expendables with a stronger story. The third movie is interesting but it spread itself too thin with the 20 people on screen at any given time.

Yeah most of that was wishful thinking. I agree the budget will be cut massively. Maybe they will find a way. It will not be easy to get the greenlight after poor performance of EX3. It may be one of those instances where those in it have to take a pay cut. Which is fine, just means they are serious about saving the franchise. If such things exist in Hollywood anymore.

There is actually talk of another after the complete disaster of the third and basically the entire franchise so far??!!

Bottom line, if they make another its gotta be an adult movie, anything less then just don't bother.

Personally I would like to see Crews, Rousey and Couture jettisoned and replaced with actual action movie stars. I don't wanna see MMA stars or whatever, this is suppose to be a collection of action stars new and old.

Using many stars is fine but lets see some good guys get killed off, makes things much more interesting to see who's gonna kick the bucket.

Setting in Asia is a good move, maybe the Expendables could go up against a group of Asian mobsters/mafia made up of Jackie Chan, Chow Yun Fat, Tony Jaa, Donnie Yen, Tak Sakaguchi, Michelle Yeoh, Cung Le, Mark Dacascos and led by Sammo Hung and Sonny Chiba

Lionsgate does not have a saying on the making on any Millennium Films production, Avi Lerner (owner & president of Nu Image/Millennuim Films) and Stallone (Avi Lerner' current cash cow, Rambo V, Mafia hitman movie and potential EXP4) are the sole decision makers on the making of Expendables 4, Lionsgate only distributes the film.

Thanks, then it pretty much is happening. I hope this is the last one and they end it on a high note, Stallone will be around 70 when it starts shooting. Stallone's next project is definitely Rambo V, possibly Scarpa after that or Expendables 4.

Stallone has another movie coming out in the fall this year called "reach me" it's supposed to be a drama movie. I don't know too much about it.

Yeah he finished filming that one last year, it was funded through kickstarter.

The Rock is going to be playing Shazam in a DC movie. Why would he slum it in a third sequel coming after one that bombed so hard.

What? Wow, the cover of that does not jibe with the description at all. Either the movie turned into something else in editing, or it's a stinker and we're looking at a bait and switch with that terrible cover.

Yeah, it looks like they turned it into an action film when it is supposed to be a comedy drama. It doesn't sound good at all and a trailer came out a few months back which wasn't promising either.

I think it is safe to say the same company that released this is releasing it.

Eesh. I watched The Prince this past weekend, yet another low budget flick like this with Willis, John Cusack, and Jason Patric. (and your obligatory 50 Cent cameo). It's bizarre how all these guys will show up in anything now. I guess they provide a guaranteed profit in overseas market and an easy paycheck, but come on, you know?
