It's not that shocking, it's licensing difficulties. Massive Attack are too expensive or won't do it outside the US. Loads of bands don't want their music being used on TV, the UK's PRS Music Licensing Body operates a commissioning licence which allows a flate rate use of many songs, but loads of artists opt out, including everyone from Arctic Monkeys to The Beatles, although Massive Attack hasn't opted out of this licence (if they are even covered by it).

I believe Universal Television's Parenthood has a similar problem with a Bob Dylan track...

From memory wasn't the theme changed on the DVDs over here as well?

Massive Attack is not on any of the streaming HD versions of House either even in the US.

I only have Season 3 on UK dvd (all the rest I have are from the US), it has the same Massive Attack theme tune as the US dvds I have (seasons 1,2,4 & 5).
The standalone releases on Blu-ray in the UK also had the same theme (I only have 6 & 7).

I'm sure there's a discrepancy somewhere, I just can't remember where. We used to keep up with the US-paced broadcasts, which had the MA theme - but then we watched it on something, which I assumed to be DVD, where the theme had changed. It confused us.

Ditched my DVDs once we got this complete BD set, so can't check now.

It's no biggy for me either way TBH, it's a great theme tune, and it was iconic to the show when it was on, but I can live with it not being there I guess.

WTF packaging!? Who comes up with such shitty cases? The hubs don't match the trays, and the trays don't even match each other! Hell, the hub on the front of each case doesn't even match the one on the back! It's ridiculous! I don't have that many spare Viva's lying around, so I put them in Versapak DVD cases. At least they're uniform and secure. The cover art fits the spines almost perfectly other than only being BD height. Works for me.

Second gripe. WTF disc art? They slapped those stupid rating emblems all over the place, and the discs don't even say what goddamn season they are!!

There are often legal requirements on the sizing of the logos, so Universal probably didn't have a choice (and I'd note that cramming multiple territories onto the same disc is probably what made the release viable)...

How does a hub not match a tray or a tray not match another tray? I was eventually going to pick this up but can't even picture what you mean in my head.

PS-just watched an unboxing of this on YouTube because I was so curious and the hubs and trays looked fine to me. Looked solid and secure. And, of course, if you leave them in their original cases, you don't really need the disc to say what season it is.

The hubs on the single disc trays don't match the 2 disc tray. There's 2 different types of 2-disc trays with different hubs. The hubs in the back of the cases are those shitty yin-yang amaray type, while the ones on the front of the cases are more Viva type. It's ridiculous.

Thumbs up £67.70

Wow. the UK box set is down to £67.70! If I hadn't already pre-ordered the French box set (with the hopes of DTS HD MA) I would have jumped on this offer in an instant!

It was £64.99 on Zavvi yesterday. Back up to £115 now though.

Please relax, it's really not that big of a deal AT ALL. The packaging on this set is actually pretty great for how many discs there are. Love the box design.

Here's a link to all three versions of the theme tune:

Strangely enough I think it was the Singaporean version that Sky HD broadcast when they showed the latest episodes in the UK.

Hope this helps.

What makes you think that the French discs will be any different to the UK discs?

The Universal Pictures France site says it will have both French and English DTS MA HD tracks. It also says the release is PAL, so I wouldn't neccesarily believe it, until it gets released.

Depends, Black Friday isn't really a thing in the UK (we don't have Thanksgiving, so the entire thing falls apart, but for some reason both Amazon and ASDA - owned by Wal-Mart - do it in the UK). Consequently, when Amazon do have a Black Friday week, we don't get as wide a selection of offers as the US. So it isn't guaranteed to go on sale or drop in price at any point (indeed it may go up).

My guess it though, that it will go down before Christmas and if not then, probably during the January sales...
