A leap from Wii U's power. Graphics & Framerate should look smoother on NX. Still cartoony, yes, but I like that. Others such as yourself have every right to disagree & want a more Uncharted art style look. Sony was the first console anyway to go in that direction (3D realism graphics) since 1994 while Nintendo didn't with their IPs. I would add hearing Zelda's music & sound effects in a realistic environment would probably sound silly.

I am tired of all that "real life" look. That's why I have two consoles, but I really dig hte art style of Nintendo, especially on this game.

According to Kotaku it was actually the Wii U version.

Imagine if this were available in the launch window for the Wii U. Perhaps things might have been different.

I guess it would have worked out completely differently in case:
- Super Mario Maker
- Splatoon
- and this here

...would have been released in the first few months of the Wii U

And well w/ proper marketing. No confusing Wii U name. etc.

Zelda does sell consoles, it was a poor decision on Nintendo's part not to release a single new Zelda title (Hyrule Warriors doesn't count) until the end of the Wii U's life.

I didn't even buy a 3DS until A Link Between Worlds was released. It's a pretty sweet Zelda themed 3DS XL. It sucks that only a few months later Nintendo released the "New" 3DS XL.

I don't have a Wii U*, but I will be pre-ordering the Switch and Breath of the Wild for it.

*I do own one Wii U game though, Twilight Princess HD, just so I could get the Wolf Link amiibo.

Disclaimer: Everything in this blog post is rumor until proven otherwise. Please take everything with a grain of salt.

Breath of the Wild is one of the largest games — if not the largest game — that Nintendo has ever developed. It’s probably larger than Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and Wind Waker combined.

In early September, I heard rumblings that the localization for the game was becoming more work than anyone had anticipated. They have to localize all of the game’s text, NPCs, quests, etc. Then, around October, I received another update that Zelda’s localization was still not going as smoothly as planned. “A very ambitious game, maybe even too much” claimed one particular source.

That brings us to the month of November. More sources have now come forward and corroborated my information. They’ve told me that localization for Breath of the Wild might not be finished until the end of December. After localization is completed, this game will require between (at least) four-to-six months of testing. As I mentioned earlier, this is one of Nintendo’s largest and most ambitious games ever. The amount of testing required for a huge open-world game like this is enormous. Nintendo’s intention is to have the game as bug free as possible.

Based on what I’ve heard, I have no reason to believe that Breath of the Wild will be a March title. There’s a much higher chance of Breath of the Wild being a summer 2017 game.

On an unrelated note, I’ve also heard whispers of the Switch version of BoTW running more smoothly than the Wii U version. Furthermore, I hear the final version of the game is a bit harder than what the press and media played at E3. Actually, I hear they toned down the E3 demo’s difficulty a tiny bit because they wanted journalists and press members at E3 to have fun exploring.

That’s all for now, but keep your eyes peeled for my next blog post. I’ll be discussing other Switch games later this week.

Supposedly it's delayed until June and the Wii U version will release after the Switch. THis is the same shit they pulled with TP and the Wii, and it really rubbed me then wrong way then and it's no different now. I really hope the Switch is a massive failure and Nintendo decides to just make hardware like Sega, they have no business in the console market anymore.

I think you mean make software like Sega, not hardware.
But anyway, if Nintendo left the console market everything would go to hell. Same machines and experiences time and time and time again would probably lead to a market crash (again).
As it stands the kids/everyone market has shrunk dramatically on the PS/Xbox consoles.
Handheld market would be reduced to mobile gaming.
Then like Sega has, the magic that makes Nintendo what they are will fade.

I'll never get comments like this, specially because nintendo are also guilty for lack of variety and rehashes

also the market will not crash again, at least not because of nintendo

oh and Nintendo's magic has long been gone

1) Sega stopped making hardware, they make software now.

2) I wish Sega continued making hardware, they were ahead of their time. It took until the Gameboy Advance Micro to catch up to what the Game Gear was doing (color and backlit screen; the SP was initially frontlit). Also the Switch will finally catch up to what the Nomad did. Nomad was a portable Genesis that could also connect to the TV. It will take Nintendo until 2017 to do the same thing Sega did in 1995, let you play console game carts on a handheld. Not ports of the game, but actual game carts.

Last week, Nintendo shared the file sizes for Zelda: Breath of the Wild on both Switch and Wii U. Both are pretty similar. On Switch, Zelda is a 13.4 GB download while the Wii U version is 13 GB.

The page now includes an additional note specifically about the game on Wii U. For those who plan on playing the physical version, some game data will need to be installed. More than 3 GB of space is needed in the console’s storage or USB storage device. It seems that USB memory devices (memory stick) can’t be used.

Perhaps, but go back and watch the reveal. The ad does really make it look and sound like the gamepad was an accessory to the Wii (complete with mostly Wii looking minigames). It was doomed regardless from having mainstream success.

Pleased it's coming to Wii U. Certainly a lot cheaper than needing to buy a switch. The N64 portion of the VC in North America is finally catching up to Europe. F-Zero X is still super sweet even with oversensitive controls.

I'm quite interested to see what the final version of the Wii U game looks like and how much (if any) improvements were made since that Summer 2016 demo.

Eurogamer will have a detailed Switch/Wii U comparison up sometime this week before launch apparently.
