I hope you're right because my heart just sank thinking Disney won't release 3D for Pixar either.
As for Disney not releasing Aladdin in 3D while Beauty & Mermaid have is utter bullshit. Aladdin is more capable of utilitizing 3D much better than those two. ![]() |

So far the only exception has been for Marvel films. Ironic, in a way, given that some of those are just conversions and not as well received ones. While something like Frozen, which is known to have a top of the line 3D presentation, isn't available stateside. |

When 3DTV and 3D Blu-Ray launched in 2010 I assumed that they would not be successful. The market for those formats was very small yet the Manufactures and the Film Studios like Disney were really pushing 3DTV & 3D Blu-Ray to take over from HDTV and 2D Blu-Ray.
I remember when Disney released Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Strangers Tides and Cars 2 on Blu-Ray they included the Special Features Discs ONLY with the 3D Combo Packs. They did that to try to make people buy the 3D Versions for the extra discs to boost the the sales of 3D Blu-Ray. Then next year when Brave was released on Blu-Ray the disc with the extras disc was included in the 2D Combo Pack. I don't think that 4KTV and the Ultra HD (4K) Blu-Ray Format will be successful for the same reasons as 3D. The market will probably be very small... |

Sorry if this is not related, but I've recently got an email from DisneyMovieRewards about taking a survey for points. The first survey asked some questions about 3D movies and how we preferred to view 3D movies (i.e. theatres or television). Could this be Disney's way of reproaching 3D?
But it also says that the survey was done back in June 2011 so there's that as well. |

Pretty sure Disney's gonna keep doing the Oval style covers which I don't mind
![]() They can still do something classy though like a colorful purple Oval cover with either the lamp or cave of wonders in the center. I think that would actually look really nice. |

Since Disney knows everyone has been waiting for this release, i bet they milk it and go for multiple cover releases. Pinocchio will do ok but it won't get the same attention as Aladdin. So unless they add Frozen to the Diamond line, Aladdin will be it's last big money maker until whatever is planned after Diamond Editions. Sad thing is, most will fall for it and double and triple dip because everyone likes Aladdin. I will too.

1) It's far too abstract, showing neither the title character, Jasmine or Genie. Terrible for retail purposes as it doesn't catch the casual shopper's eye. 2) Disney's shifted in the last year (dating to The Jungle Book's 2/2014 release) to referring to their DCs on the cover art as "Digital HD", not "Digital Copy" as they had in the past. Based on the configuration of the "Digital Copy" logo with a disc replacing the letter "O", I'd say that it's a mockup created circa 2011/12 perhaps? EDIT: Upon closer inspection, it looks exactly like the actual slipcover used for the "Lady and the Tramp" release from 2/2012, which was the first Diamond Edition released with a gold-colored slip. The subsequent Diamond Edition released (Cinderella, 10/2012) didn't use the disc-for-"O" logo for "Digital Copy" as that was phased out sometime mid-2012, so it looks like Lady and the Tramp was the template used for this mock-up. Lady and the Tramp, Cinderella, Peter Pan, and The Little Mermaid came in two versions: one with the standard blue frame and full art, and one with the gold frame and alternate art for the BD+DVD+digital copy edition. The Jungle Book onwards have only been issued in the gold frame with the digital copy.
The first four releases -- Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, Bambi, and The Lion King -- were not released with digital copies, only in a standard blue frame with BD+DVD. Beauty and Lion King were released in 3D with digital copies, though. The frame was silver, not gold. |

Yeah I usually pick whichever version comes with a digital copy, but since there were two different ones with the digital copy, I went with the 3D one (despite not having a 3D TV) because of how gorgeous the 3D cover is.
I hope Aladdin gets a really nice cover. It deserves it. |
