Pick the '70/'80 Spider-Man as reference, we need a new "Nicholas Hammond", not a parody guy like Toby or an ugly emo super-slim guy like Andrew.

Hope it's clear.
I guess it depends on what iteration of the character they go with.

I'm thinking the first Spider-Man film from Marvel/Sony just may challenge Titanic's record. I hope.

Well ... "In Marvel we trust" sure doesn't count either. The movies are varying successes. The Iron Man sequels, the first chapter of Thor, very mediocre stuff. The First Avenger, good, not great. I'm not sure if Marvel will bring the big change so many are hoping for.

Everything will be better than Sam Raimi's depiction for sure. For a good start.

Spider-Man 1/2 were fine, Even Amazing Spider Man 1 was good. Certainly better then most of the X-Men films to date as well as TASM 2. 100x better then the F4 movies. Marvel has had some duds as well, IM3, Thor 2, Incredible Hulk. I enjoyed both Cap Films, GOTG, I enjoyed IM 1/2 and Avengers. Will be interesting to see what they do with the character.

I really hope I love whoever they choose, if I don't I won't be watching one of my all time favorite superheroes on the big screen again until the next reboot.
This disappoints me so much I will probably avoid all the solo films unless the cast is so amazing that I get over this ridiculous reboot.

Spider-Man 1 was a good movie, not great but good.
2 and 3 were terrible.
The X-Men movies are millions of light-years ahead of them all.

I enjoyed the Webb films. Mainly because of Garfield, Stone and Field. They just made me care for the characters more than Maguire or Dunst ever did. So even though I'm really really excited to see Spidey in the MCU, it's really a bummer that Garfield won't be coming back. I absolutely loved him as Spidey!

I was hoping for more of a soft reboot. Keep Garfield and Field but carry on with a different approach as far as Oscorp, villains and introducing Mary Jane. But that would probably be a bit confusing for some. I guess I was just really hoping to see AG back in the red and blue. Oh well...I'll keep an open mind for whomever they cast!

Bring it on

How about Taylor Lautner as Spider-Man? He's athletic and proved he could act on "Cuckoo" which is a British TV series. He is taller(not by much) and better built than Lerman.

I just cannot believe we got rid of both Toby-Toby and Emo Andrew. I'm so happy. This is the first step towards the True Spider-Man.

Also...

How about some talk about a director and a villain for the film. Who would you all like to see?

I can only pray that the X-Men films keep doing well, so that Fox doesn't turn the franchise over to be a cog in the MCU.

Don't worry for that.
The "worst" X-Men movie is Origins, and I rate that 7/10.
Fox is doing an excellent, sublime job.

They actually casted a serios guy to play Wolverine and not a comedian.

Fox is preaty well off (there was talk months ago that they wanted to buy Warner Brothers). Sony on the other hand between their numerous financial losses over the years combined with the hack from last Fall is not doing so good. Can't see Fox selling off the X-Men unless they got a huge chunk of change, or were getting out of the entertainment business.
