It used to work that way, but it doesn't any more.

Now what they do is they lock in your pre-order price, and if the price is lower when the item is released, they refund the difference between the pre-order price and the price on release.

This is NOT the same as charging you the lowest price. You could order something at £30 which drops to £15, but goes back up a little to £20 before release and stays there. Your refund will then be £10 (difference between order price and release price), not £15 (difference between order and lowest price).

When did this change happen? I literally had no idea. The wording is quite ambiguous, enough so that I never realised anything changed - "order now and if the Amazon.co.uk price decreases between the time you place your order and the release date, you'll be charged the lowest price."

Cancelling and re-ordering with HMV, which makes me happier anyway.

This is wrong. The terms are clear.

Quote:
Pre-order Price Guarantee

Amazon.co.uk's price for not-yet-released items sometimes changes between the time the item is listed for sale and the time it is released and dispatched. Whenever you pre-order an item eligible for Pre-order Price Guarantee, the price you pay will be the lowest price offered by Amazon.co.uk between the time you place your order up to and including the end of the day of the release date. A Pre-order Price Guarantee message will appear on your order summary during the checkout process. If you use 1-Click ordering, Pre-order Price Guarantee protection will be automatically applied. The order summary in Your Account will reflect the lowest price within 24-48 hours of any price change.
They should be charging you the lowest price at any point from when you order to the end of the release date. If they don’t refund you the difference you should email them.

If you order at £30 and the price drops to £24 but then goes back up to £27, you should be charged £24 (or refunded to make it the equivalent).

It looks very good, but I hope they can iron out niggles (including full subtitle re-translation and better remixes?).

We know about L'Immagine Ritrovata's restorations (hit and miss - yellow-y at times?), but I wish non-DVNR versions were available.

Are mono soundtracks not available from Fortune Star? As long as they're newly transferred and mastered correctly I'd think that'll be better than other sources.

Police Story

Hong Kong and Japanese differences
• The international version is shorter than the Hong Kong (also different music, sometimes), though another English version exists which matches the length of the Hong Kong (perhaps two international versions, really?). There is the pre-New Line Cinema called 'Police Force', but I'm assuming that it's the same as the UK VHS, except the latter is called 'Police Story'.

Police Story 2

Hong Kong and Japanese differences (if I'm not mistaken, HK may contain a little the Japanese doesn't - not documented here?)
Hong Kong and international differences

It's really the Hong Kong version that should be included, rather than the 'Fortune Star' (Japanese+Hong Kong hybrid) one.
-----
It probably won't happen, but the best thing would be utilising seamless branching so all versions are faithfully recontructed as full features, in full HD.

Police Story

English 1 (Dutch VHS)
English 2 (US and UK VHS)
Hong Kong
Japanese

Police Story 2

English
Hong Kong
Japanese

I think it's safe to say it definitely won't be happening at 1080p anyway because Eureka have confirmed that they're not allowed to touch/edit these 4K restoration, but even if they could create their own hybrid version of the HK cut seamless branching probably would have been too much of a headache because you've got soundtrack differences on top of all the little edits.

Just a quick update to let everyone
know that Eureka has been working
and keeping in touch with me and taking
all my suggestions very seriously.

I have also provided them with a few things
that I hope they can use. I should have some news tomorrow. But let me just say this set is just the beginning of some very cool things coming our way!

Anything that makes this brilliant set even better can only be good news, thanks

(I'm in favour of including the Police Story 2 theatrical version in SD if means getting it on the disc in some form)

Thank you so much! Great that some company actually listens and wants to participate with fans, I see that very rarely.

Irongod2112, could you ask Eureka to start pre-selling the box in Germany Amazon? Probably would generate more pre-orders.

EDIT: Whoops, forgot the link to the .de amazon page: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07DDPRVT2/

I know I wrote earlier that I might have to wait, but I could pre-order from Germany Amazon (it would be better for me considering shipping fees). Just for the sake of supporting how amazing Eureka seems to be with caring for the fans and their products.

Thank you so much for the regular updates and for everything you've doing to contribute to this amazing set!

Do you have any info on any future HK releases that Eureka are planning?

So were Eureka willing to use the revised subtitles for PS1?

Yeah, at least it appears as though Eureka looked into it, rather than ignore the fans wishes.

An SD option is probably the best we can hope for in the meantime (the only way we'll see an HD of the theatrical cut is if some distributor is willing to pay for it).

I hate Fortune Star, but they hold these films hostage. There's little we can (legally) do.

Actually we discussed this after I had sent Irongod the subtitles which he forwarded to Eureka, so no I haven't done that yet. But I am waiting to hear from Irongod if Eureka is appreciating the subs at all. If not, then I don't to waste my time revising it and send over an updated version
