Most of us (as older fans) grew up watching the Universal Monsters films out of order and we had to search forever to find when one would be playing on TV.
The order seemed to make little difference as simply seeing them was the thing.
So,
always remember that it is not homework and watch anyway you want.
All of them are fun.

I grew up with these on VHS and still caught these out of order. Can’t remember the full order I saw them in but I know it began with Frankenstein and ended with Spanish Dracula.

Hey SMOOT I will, it is not work for me but really something I enjoy putting together all of these films ... anticipating the fun!

This is what I grew up with, all the fun:

This was my portal to some of the classic Horror films back in the 1970s on TV:

It adds a richness and depth that makes the disc look like a real film print. It's lovely.

If you asked me a couple years ago I would've shrugged and said maybe, but now I'd have to say a clear and emphatic yes. HDR improves depth, contrast and black levels so much, and black and white movies can use that just as much as more modern ones.

"Dude UHDs of anything pre-2000 are getting iffy reviews and not much enthusiasm. There is a subtle improvement on stuff like Labyrinth and Goodfellas but subtle is the word. I really, really doubt these ever come to UHD and would certainly not buy them even if they did. "

I see the local know-it-all has done a 180, after taking the time to single out and crap on my opinion only a year and a half ago simply for stating I would be willing to buy the UM films on 4k UHD. How about that? Ever since that little tirade of yours, I've always thought you should change your profile pic to Cliff Claven. Maybe next time you want to snark about someone else's opinion you should refrain?

LOL yeah I totally get your trouble on knowing with what movies to start with. I’m in the same boat. I was just thinking today of going through all my Blu’s and organizing all the horror together and then make a tentative list. I agree with you that I try to save the classic Universal Monsters for later in October. Oct. 31st is usually Halloween 1978 for me. I also try to hold off at least some of my many Vincent Price until October, at least the really famous one’s. I might watch some of his second tier movies in September. I think I’ll also watch things like the Friday the 13th movies in September since they kinda still match the early September warmer weather. But yeah, definitely some tough choices. Let me know what you tentatively plan!

Hagios, meant to mention also about the Hammer horror movies. For some reason, I’ve never really watched them. Is there a good Region 1 Blu Collection you would recommend? Or what single Blu’s would you say are some of the best Hammer to try?

Mines not shipped yet. Very excited to see this tomorrow. I decided to let the order go through partly out of excitement for the title and partly to support 3D. (as opposed to waiting for a price drop)

Thanks for letting me know. Well here they are again but I decided to put them in collage form like the Invisible Man pic I did and I didn't use Google this time. So anyways here they are again folks. The VHS arts for the Creature trilogy!

Default Best 3D movie ever...bring back 3D now please

Just queued this up again on my 92 inch Mits DLP and WOW! I was blown away yet again by the amazing 3D - filmed organically (NO CGI nerd sitting at a computer did this)..the Creature's claw sticking out of the screen will have you cringeing from the get-go and it only gets better! 3D filmed underwater way back then - shows you how lazy moviemakes have gotten now sitting at their computers composing "underwater" scenes that really fake.

The Creature from the Black Lagoon set and the Invisible Man set should be on their way to my doorstep for tomorrow.

I’m trying to decide whether to eat the vegetables (Invisible Man series) before eating the dessert (Creature films), but the dessert will probably come first.

(Before anybody’s head explodes, I’ll elaborate and say that I love the Invisible Man flicks dearly. They’re not quite in the Creature ball park, though.)

Sammy Terry was the best host ever! The atmosphere on his show equalled the Universal films he presented.

I have an 85" Samsung in the livingroom (and a 75" in the bedroom) - both 2015 (I believe), and both 4K 3D, but not HDR or the final HDCP 2.2. I believe the industry was still struggling to specify standards at that point. The PQ on both is fantastic and I wouldn't trade them right now for any newer HDR/HDCP 2.2/OLED, etc TV because these are 3D - the most rare of commodities in large screen TVs today. As a matter of fact, I am toying with the purchase of yet another old and outdated 4K 3D TV, because 3D is what is MOST important to me - the old LG 98". The 85" and a viewing distance of 11' puts me about 2' past optimal 3D immersion, so the 98" would get me where I need to be.

I have 12' of glass sliders, bringing in a lot of sunlight during the day, and I can watch casual daily TV with no problem. And that's what I appreciate about TVs, over projectors. The ol' 98 incher though, is a little spendy...

Same here, I lived for Saturday afternoons!
Only problem was Creature Double Feature was 12-4, but Chiller came on at 3:30 and usually showed the Universal Monsters, so if the second movie on CDF was really good I'd miss 1/2 an hour of Chiller...
Oh the problems of youth, pre-home video!
