The trailers look promising. I'm definitely looking forward to it (even though I've not seen most Marvel movies).

Looking forward to the MCU's return Friday. It's felt so long since Far From Home came out.

As excited as I am for WandaVision, it was pretty refreshing to not have a Marvel Movie for a whole year. More better for a (Hopefully) more unique start to another Phase than another Same ol' Beat-em-up movie that would be Black Widow.

Yes, I want The Mandalorian on blu-ray too, but Disney+ is not a prison sentence. |

That and there is better Star Wars content out there anyway. As for Mulan, at least and many other Live action adaptations of the classics have seen a superior physical release anyway. Your point is noted, but actually in many cases I would rather see the "crappy" VHS tape than a digital smoothed over glossy fake parading as something better. I gave the Mandalorian a few episodes and enjoyed them, but not so much to feed the Disney fee black hole. |

Do I want WandaVision and the rest on BD? Yes. But it likely won't happen, and as such, I'm not subscribing to D+ until a couple of shows have finished to warrant paying for a month of it... and the way he says you can pay a small fee to get it anytime is stupid, because you end up paying more in the long run if you keep it nonstop to just paying $30ish for a season because it's a one time fee, and subscriptions are more or less perpetual renting. Which is also exactly why studios don't like releasing their streaming content. Last edited by kevin87; 01-13-2021 at 09:56 PM. |

I've watched a lot of TV in my time and don't own every episode of every show I've ever seen, and I don't regret having spent money on cable TV and such to see them. I love physical media too, and I wish The Mandalorian was on a nice 4K UHD, but I'm not going to confine myself to only watching physical media.
I think the idea of a subscription sounds too much like a utility bill and it causes some to feel like they're locked into some sort of contract. I think the benefit of streaming services are just the opposite. I hate cable companies that lock me into a high priced package full of channels I never watch, just to see the channel I do want. And to start/stop cable is a pain. You can save a lot of money by streaming instead, and in my opinion that's where the best shows are. You can turn off/on whatever you want with a few clicks. I guess what I'm saying is, don't think of streaming replacing physical, think of it as an alternative to high priced cable or a trip to the old video rental store. You have more at your fingertips for less money than at any time before. I don't think not watching it will help it get released on physical media. I'm voting with my dollars for the content I want so they'll make more of what I like. That's just my take on it. |

Disney has made it so that there’s pretty much a new episode every week from either a Marvel series or a Star Wars series starting this Friday basically. That way you are forced to stay subscribed all the time if you want to stay up to date on those stories. Of course you’re not actually ‘forced’ to do anything, but given how popular they are, and the fact people talk about them and there’s that FOMO factor, most people will stay subscribed and Disney will hike up the monthly fee. I’m not saying anyone here in particular will do it but most people in the general public will stay subscribed, and that will be enough for Disney to keep everything exclusive and increase that subscription fee.
I’d obviously prefer a blu-ray, or even 4K disc, of this content but that’s not looking likely at all right now. The Mandalorian season two came and went, a lot of people watched it, and there were never even rumors that it might get a physical release. I hope I’m wrong but right now Disney has no incentive to release their Disney+ exclusive series on physical. The more new and exclusive content they have, the more money they make by making people subscribe, and stayed subscribed. The great majority of Netflix series never get a physical release, and the few that do, their physical release happens before, or right around, the new season release. That did not happen with The Mandalorian. So I hope I’m wrong but it’s not looking likely right now. |

It always cracks me up when people complain about the terrible burden of yet another streaming subscription, of being "forced" to pay for another monthly service. It's $6.99. Y'all spend more than that on one latté from Starbucks.
