I watched Bambi once when I was little. Too traumatic to ever watch again. Just the thought of Bambi's mum being murdered still gives me a lump on the throat. Only way I'd watch the remake is if Bambi grows up to avenge his mother's death. I would gladly pay money to watch two hours of hunters dying horrible deaths.

The Little Mermaid is a excellent film and people who bother to see it agree. It has a 94% score on RT among verified viewers. Cinemascore gives it an A and they again used people who see it. Unfortunately this is about the lead being black instead of white. She was perfect as Arielle.

But, having loved musicals all my life, this movie was absolutely something worthy of celebration.

I'm not a fan of musicals but I fell in love with this. I loved the scenes where the human actors interacted with the CGI musical sequences. "Under the Sea" was a fantastic song and Ariel riding a squid, sitting on a turtle among other things made the sequence pure Disney magic. It is a shame that this film has been caught up in the right wing culture wars.
