How would y’all feel if this came out and it turned out Coscarelli demanded CGI retouching like on Phantasm

It depends.
I don't think it needs any of it, even.

Depends on what is done. What he did with Phantasm isn’t an issue for me.

Nothing that gets CG retouching decades later really needs it per se, I’d prefer no movies got it, but don’t tell that to Sam Raimi or you know who

Some of you guys take peoples personal opinion of a movie wayyyyyy too seriously. I mean you're actually looking through my movie collection because I'm going to pass on The Beastmaster and I thought it was a little cheesy?

Flash Gordon is one of my favorite movies. Cheesy dialogue, cheap sets, over-acting, yoghurt carton spaceships special effects all to a rocking Queen soundtrack - what's not to love. It's a total blast and I love it.

That said I am also picking up Beastmaster, but Flash Gordon is the better of the two movies.

I don't know if they already did that for the 4K release, but I would have erased all the wire work in "Evil Dead II". That's not supposed to be part of the cinematic experience.

Flash Gordon has a bigger production, but they cannot be truly compared in terms of quality. Apples and oranges.

"The Beastmaster" is a serious sword and sorcery movie.

Thing is, the wires were generally invisible in theaters, since prints were always lossy and the fine detail got softened. So remastering in 4K from the OCN tends to make such things far more visible than on any previous home format.

True, but the debate was first started by Bates Motel in an earlier post who called out another user (Enzo954) with the post:

So it was a $2 difference. I'm still glad I got a preorder in. I'd rather have the peace of mind.

Great book, even.
For me, Marc Singer is the one and only Beastmaster.

I really couldn't accept Daniel Goddard as Dar, just like when you think of Conan, you think of Arnold Schwarzenegger and not Jason Momoa.

But Ralf Moeller came close on the Conan TV show.

It was also hard to see Kevin Sorbo as anyone other than Hercules when he played Kull The Conqueror.

Brigitte Neilssen was the movie Red Sonja but Angelica Bridges as Red Sonja on the Conan TV show was way hotter.

I pre-ordered this on Saturday after taking a look at my THX DVD and my Umbrella Blu-ray on Friday night. Both were watchable I guess but lacking good picture quality on the DVD and lacking extras on the Blu-Ray and lacking subtitles on both copies. So as long as nearly all the extras from the DVD make the 4k, I can't imagine not being able to get rid of the DVD and Blu-Ray copy which makes me happy.

For the record, I absolutely adore Kull the Conqueror. I do agree that it was more or less Hercules in a full length movie. However, Kull had many wonderful quotable lines, an awesome soundtrack and Tia Carrere (and a cheap blu-ray release). Very underrated, but that's my opinion.
