I'm in for Popeye's Revenge, i already bought the blu of Cuckoo so doubt i'll upgrade as i thought it was fairly mediocre. Till Death was an OK watch on streaming, but not one i'll pick up.

Myself and others have posted articles from UK press and online documenting what a mess film distribution is in the UK these days.

The money for niche films like these on home video has died as they used to be regular DVD buyers for these titles but they haven't moved to BD and are happy to wait for streaming or TV.

There is though still a niche cinema market that makes limited cinema runs possible as an audience with the likes of Curzon, Picturehouse and the independents. Used to be Everyman but ours has long since sold out to only show mainstream Hollywood fare.

Don't fancy it really and never bothered with it before but I'll have a look as I really liked the director's Marjorie Prime

No thread for this? Can't see one.

Vaguely heard of the film but the director's made a few very good films so I'll take a look.

I’m exactly the same, but knowing Joe Wright has directed the whole series means there is no chance I am missing this. I actually had no idea the series was already finished and screened on television, such is my lack of interest in television series.
So is the series any good?

A24 are now listing it https://shop.a24films.com/products/a...nt-man-blu-ray That fact alone would increase the UK sales so hopefully it's picked up. I think Universal/Apple share other UK rights.

Default Girl From the North Country (July 2025)

Set in 1934 Duluth, Minnesota, during the Great Depression, Girl from the North Country centres on Nick Laine, who struggles to keep his guesthouse afloat amidst financial ruin.

His wife, Elizabeth, battles dementia, while their adopted daughter, Marianne, harbours a secret pregnancy. The guesthouse becomes a refuge for a diverse group of drifters, each grappling with their own hardships. As their lives intertwine, themes of love, loss, and hope emerge, all underscored by reimagined renditions of Bob Dylan's songs, including "Forever Young", "All Along the Watchtower”, "Hurricane" and "Like a Rolling Stone."

This cinematic adaptation brings the acclaimed Broadway production to the screen, offering a poignant exploration of human resilience and connection.

Doesn't look like my bag but the Dylan angle may draw me to it.

I saw the show in London (it's a British show but this is of the cast from the Broadway transfer) and liked it very much. It's very theatrical, the cast also become the band, for example, and its story is very character, rather than story, led. A happy, tappy show it isn't. The Dylan music that the director/writer chose is often unexpected; only Like a Rolling Stone being something that casual listeners might recognise but it's all beautifully arranged so that it could easily pass for 1930s music. The spirit of Woody Guthrie looms large, channeling his humanity as much as his music.

This is from a site that covers filmed stage shows, detailing how it was captured.

"The digital capture of the musical features the Broadway show’s original cast and was filmed over a period of four days. Similarly to Come From Away and Hamilton, the stage producers of the show decided to create a digital capture independently and market it to a streaming service in the future.

The captured show includes footage crafted from two complete runs of both acts, single shots and a live performance recording with invited audience."
