Personally, the $3 tickets day just made me appreciate the current costs of theaters. Call me crazy, but I would rather pay for A-list and not have to deal with those types of patrons that came out. Jaws 3D was great, but the crowd was not. Like discount Tuesday on crack.

If it was always like that, I would be a 100% home theater viewer. (for the record, I've been to theaters over 20 times in 2022)

That would be welcome, though a popcorn that was always priced at $3 would be great. Most times, the cheapest Popcorn is $7 to $8 from what I see. Getting a large tub for $4 was great, and something I haven't done since the 1980s as a kid.

On Saturday did a double header of Jaws 3D and Spider-Man both on the XD screen at my local Cinemark. Got there five minutes behind showtime start and there was a long line (not surprising) stretching into the road haha. Waited in that and right before a few people were ahead of me one of the attenders told me about the kiosks. Wished I knew about that before (never noticed these "new" ones put in). So went there, bought both tickets and headed in. When I walked in the concession lines were pretty long. A group of 4 was sitting in my assigned seat, so just went up one row and sat in the same one there. Of course right when the movie started the lights came on. So after about 20 min I went out and asked them to turn it off and they did a short time later. After that, the 3D picture on the screen looked great. The audience was well behaved, so no issues there. Had about 40 min to kill in between movies, so decided to watch the end of Top Gun and Thor. When I had about 15 min before the next movie started decided to get popcorn and a drink. Got the small, loaded it with butter and it was good, but not great. I make better popcorn at home haha. Normally the only time I buy snacks there is if I see 2 movies in one day (like then), otherwise I just grab a bite to eat after somewhere. I don't know if they were always that price if I'd start buying them, but at least it was nice then. The Spider-Man showing the audience was well behaved too. It def seemed like a lot of people went out that normally wouldn't, so hope they take note of that.

That's what I was afraid of, and why my clan skipped $3 Saturday. However, discount Tuesday here is generally empty, unless it's a hype film early in its release cycle.

Some days, Cinemark here cancels Discount Tuesday. I don't know of it being blacked out for just select films, but maybe they would be savvy to do that for Black Panther 2?

Sounds like a good idea to me. I remember discount Wednesdays at the old theaters where you could bring your own bag and get it filled with popcorn for just a few bucks.

At least make the small popcorn bigger for the price as it's tiny at Cinemark, if you eat it one piece at a time it might last through the previews.

The way Cinemark near me is these days, getting a drink and a popcorn costs the same as the ticket. In fact, 2 drinks and a large popcorn totaled to over $20 when I was just there, which is more than 2 tickets' cost.

Theaters should just do $3 movie tickets every day.

*with the purchase of popcorn and drink.

The earlier shows were definitely the quieter crowds from my experience thankfully, even on $3 Sept 3rd 2022.

Thanks, yes, make the medium sized popcorn (small is gone from my theaters if you can believe that, only medium and large now) bigger for the price. I think it's $7 and the large is $9 or something. A $3 small would've been perfect but they gave up on small popcorn it seems.

Interesting deal. With the cost of popcorn and soda, that would be $20 at my theaters. The ticket at earlier shows before 5 PM is usually 8.25 or less sometimes.

I always try to go to matinees. On the $3.00 day I saw Jaws in Imax on a large screen and there were only about 25 people in the theater. Typically when I see movies there are 10 or less other viewers and I go on opening day and the weekend. Some people like the full audience experience but more seem to complain about the crowds. I have Regal Unlimited and have seen over 50 films this year so far.

That’s not even a bad deal, IMO. I don’t think I’ve ever gone to a movie and not bought at least one thing from concession.

If a person goes often for concession snacks, a very good deal, true.

Sounds good. 50 films, that's good.
Normally I'll see 25-30+ films in theaters a year on average without any memberships, but rarely visit the snack stand and bring in a small snack. The past couple years though, I'm lucky to see more than 15 films per year due to the major drought of films each week for awhile there. Thankfully things are picking up slightly more in 2022.

With the Unlimited subscription I see films that I wouldn't otherwise see. Regal also gives credits for money spent and freebies periodically. I do get concessions about every 2nd or 3rd trip. The nice thing for me about seeing so many films in the theater is that it saves me buying a lot of them on disc.

Agreed, seeing a film in theaters is also my gauge too to decide if getting a movie on disc or not at full price. Sale prices are easier to buy for movies I'm not sure about.
