Quadrotriticale is not wheat. It is a high-yield grain, a four-lobed hybrid of wheat and rye. A perennial, also, if I'm not mistaken. Its root grain, triticale, can trace its ancestry all the way back to twentieth century Canada.

Very much true and the greatest thing about ST, this elevation for grandeur. Works very well on a young mind and brings quite a sense of hope. But I fear his disappointment. Out of the 4 TNG movies, as far as I remember, the border two are horrendous to bad and the inner two are average to good: First Contact is all the more an action flick and Insurrection has a good spirit but is lacking cinematic enthusiasm. I may be wrong, it's been a long time since these movies.

I didn't enjoy Generations when it came out or for many years later, but I now appreciate it for what it is. Once I saw First Contact, the bitter pill of Generations was a lot easier to swallow and Insurrection definitely made me appreciate it a bit more.

And the concept of the Nexus still seems like a very relatable idea for some reason.... |

I didn't hate the Kirk part as far as I remember. But I didn't love the TNG part either, never been a real afficionado of the series anyway (any of them actually).

It's basically Star Trek's version of heaven combined with the ability to right any wrongs from your past -- is it really any wonder people would kill to rejoin with it?

Never bought into the idea of the Nexus. Just some anomaly that can make you live the life you wanted or go back into the real world "anywhere at any time" to fix a real mistake? That's way too powerful of a writing tool to just have it be floating around in space that everyone just forgets about.

But isn’t there always some powerful tech or mystical space portal that’s designed purely as that week’s MacGuffin then gets forgotten about? That’s another thing that makes it feel more like a big episode.

I mean, for explanations of stupid pseudo-scientific stuff in Star Trek, it's far from the worst. |

Not all of them. Star Trek IV acknowledged the slingshot around the sun maneuver from 'Tomorrow is Yesterday' when they did their time travel adventure. Why they don't do that maneuver more often in critical situations is a problem in and of itself but IV gets a pass for being a fun and way less convoluted story when compared to Generations.

If we're talking about gaping plot holes, why did the Borg have to go back in time near Earth? They could have just done it wherever.
