At 6 minutes and 10 seconds into playback of my 4K disc, I noticed a solid black bar appears and covers up a horizontal strip at the top of video frame for a brief moment. This black bar appears in the exact spot every time I play the scene back, even when I play it back frame by frame.
I have already compared my UHD copy to the included Blu-ray copy. The Blu-ray copy does not have this black bar video error. Since the scene is at night, you have to look at the lamp post and the electrical tower at the top of the frame. It appears right before the protagonist drives up and says “Riley” at the 6 minute and 10 second mark. If you turn up the brightness on your TV and play it back in slow motion, it becomes more visible. Can anyone check their 4K UHD at 6 min 10 sec for this error? I’m trying to determine if this video error is just on my copy only. If this error is present on all copies and no one noticed it until I pointed it out... you’re welcome. ![]() Seriously, I hope it is my copy only so I can return it and buy a good copy. |

![]() And then checked the region free replacement disc, which I just realized I cannot decrypt yet, with my player (it is region free indeed - didn't even check that yet...) and it has the exact same black bar. Yay. I guess a region free disc with black bar is better than a region locked disc with black, but jeez QC... (didn't check the BD yet, but believe you when you say it doesn't have this). Oh, and I sure af would've noticed this as well unless I blinked that moment. I am "allergic" to such flicker... |

Thx. I also just peeked into the trailer and I think I want English subs for this one though, so I I'll just watch it with black bar flicker first and then might get the UK one if I still feel like it after having watched it.

I e-mailed them back when the 4K released and they said no replacement program was scheduled. I e-mailed them again today and hopefully they will send a region-free disc after all! *crossing fingers* |

Thanks to the members for taking the time to investigate their 4K discs.
![]() It is now confirmed that this video error is present on many 4K discs. It also does not appear to be caused by a specific UHD player having an issue with playing the disc correctly. It sounds like the various European/World 4K discs are free of this specific error. For the record, I am in the US and bought this Lionsgate 4K disc new from Amazon US. I played it on a Panasonic UB-820. The UPC for my Talk to Me 4K is: 031398341765 and the number on my disc hub is: A061306R0. Can anyone confirm if there are any copies of this specific Lionsgate 4K release that are error free at 6:10? At this point, I’m trying to determine if all the copies have the error. ![]() |

![]() I emailed Lionsgate at help@movieredeem.com and it was not promising. I was very descriptive of the error and included a photo. Instead of confirming the error or saying there was a fixed replacement disc coming, they told me to return my copy to Amazon. I replied that would not solve the problem as I want a copy without an error and could they please check other 4K discs to confirm if the error exists on other or all copies. Lionsgate customer service replied to that direct question with this elucidating reply: “Please let us know when you've tried returning the discs.” So yeah… ![]() My other email replies were responded to by bots asking me to provide purchase info. Somehow, me asking them to check a single 4K copy at 6:10 to check for the error was asking too much. It was someone’s job to make sure this movie was released in a technically perfect presentation. I spotted this error the very first time I played the disc. Mistakes happen. Just own up to it and fix it. I am still stuck trying to get them to acknowledge the error is there. I am going to fire off some more emails to try to get the ball rolling. ![]() If your copy has the 6:10 error and you want it fixed, email Lionsgate here: help@movieredeem.com As a collector, I am bummed knowing this release is flawed. It is a solid horror film and deserves better. |

This is the 4th Lionsgate title I own with an error. Reservoir Dogs has a missing line of dialogue, Requiem For A Dream has a very blurry shot of Ellen Burstyn and Ghost In The Shell has the wrong end credits music. I doubt they'll replace any discs. They don't care.

So only the US disc has Atmos but it is locked and faulty? I could get the German one but it does not list Atmos for EN.

![]() ![]() I revisited Talk to Me last night to get geared up for Bring Her Back, which I will be seeing later this week. I did not notice any shortcomings with my 4K disc. I even went back and played the 6:10 mark after reading this thread, but did not notice anything. At any rate, my old movie content review still stands... While struggling to come to terms with the death of her mother, Mia, an outcast 17 year-old played by Sophie Wilde, is comforted by the camaraderie of her friend, Jade, played by Alexandra Jensen, and Jade's younger brother, Riley, played by Joe Bird. When these three teenagers sneak out of their houses to attend a party, Mia attempts to ingratiate herself into the rowdy crowd by volunteering herself as the first guest to participate in a ritual game. After a candle is lit to attract the spirits of the dead, Mia grasps a ceramic hand and repeats the words, “Talk to me.”, in order to establish a bond with one of the ghosts. During the days that follow, the lives of these friends are shattered by one terrifying event after another. The Australian supernatural horror feature, Talk to Me, directed by Danny and Michael Philippou, who debuted it at a 2022 film festival, comes across in trailers like yet another run-of-the-mill endeavor about teens who come to a bad end after they are introduced to a viral social media challenge. Much to my surprise, it stands tall on its own as a unique tale that thrives on an aura of punk ferocity that is matched at every step by emotional performances from all involved. The practical effects display a shuddering-inducing verisimilitude, ensuring that the squeamish need not apply. This movie has the best sound design of any work of scary cinema in recent memory. When I saw it at a theater, I kept turning around to glance at the crowd, because I initially thought that certain noises were being made by others in the audience. The sound and the cinematography both come together in a brilliantly off-kilter way, so much so that, when I exited the building after the credits rolled, the sights of dimly-lit corners and flickering lights continued to unnerve me. These days, I am especially appreciative of new movies that are wholly original. Talk to Me, my favorite horror film of the year so far, seems destined to spawn its own sequels and spin-offs in the future. Count me in, or, better yet, “Let me in.” |

1. That not every 4K disc (US release by Lionsgate) has this error. If this is the case, can you share the details of your disc, specifically the UPC and disc hub number. I only have confirmation the error is on 3 copies. I have no way to confirm if the error is on all of the discs. or 2. The error is there, but you missed it. Don’t worry, almost everyone else missed it too. When I wrote my first post, I made the joke that if no one noticed this video glitch until I pointed it out to them, they were welcome to thank me for “ruining” their copy. When I made my post, this 4K had been out in the public for over a year and no one had posted seeing any issue with their copies at 6:10. This is a very subtle, blink-and-you-will-miss-it, glitch that only affects the very top of the video frame for less than a second. Watching it in real time, it is a blip. Pay attention to the lamp post and the electrical tower at the top of the frame. It appears right before the protagonist drives up and says “Riley” at the 6 minute and 10 second mark. Turning up the brightness on your TV will help you see the error. I only want to bring attention to the fact the error is there and let a potential buyer be informed before they buy a copy. Can we all agree that the top of the video frame should not disappear on any 4K for any amount of time? Anyone is free to be happy with their copy. I’m not happy. I want it fixed. Now, I understand that some people are on the fence about buying this Lionsgate disc because of this error. The upcoming Second Sight release of this film is reported to not contain the Atmos track, which is a spectacular fumble. Should someone not buy this 4K due to an almost invisible video glitch that lasts less then a second? Let me put it this way: If Lionsgate never fixes this 4K, I’m not going to rebuy this film due to this minimal error. However, if they never fix it, I will be pissed every time I see the top of screen blip out. I could use some more community support and rallying of the troops to pressure Lionsgate into fixing this. Please check your copies and if the error is there, ask for a fix here: help@movieredeem.com At the very least, future pressings of the disc should be fixed once the current stock sells out. The Great Owl, you are very articulate and your review did justice to this movie without including any spoilers. I will check out Bring Her Back based on your recent positive review. Please check out your 4K again for the error. I am only so hyper persnickety about this because I feel it is a matter of respect to the filmmakers and the collecting community to have a movie release be free of technical defects. I’m going to try to reach out to A24 directly about this error, but don’t have their contact info and will probably be ignored. ![]() |

Just a PSA:
I recently purchased this from Amazon, and it arrived resealed. All discs were pristine (but covered in "centrifugal" smears/smudges/streaks), and the digital coupon was included. The 4K disc is region locked, so they're still out there. Lionsgate were actually blisteringly fast communicating to me... that unless I have a USA postal address (which I don't)... I'm SOL. So no replacement disc for me. |
