Even if they restricted it to a MOD-style release and just printed off however many they needed to satisfy pre-orders and few hundred spare, there would be some money to be made. But Warners just don't care any more, seems like it's too much trouble.

Studios take (on average) approx. 50-55% of the theatrical revenue... the rest goes to the theatres. When you add in marketing/print costs for the film (last I heard, it was about $100m)... the studio needed to clear at least $600m to break even on this one. Unless ancillaries were huge for this movie (I doubt they were), it was a financial disaster.

WAC could've released it, as they did with WW84 and DUNE. It certainly would sell more copies than most other WAC titles. But they'd rather leave money on the table than accommodate consumers.

You said Turning Red was on the AVP too and that turned out not to be true, so I'll wait for someone else to confirm this before amending the thread title.

Another person confirmed this yesterday on the facebook 3D group, so i guess it is real then for Aquaman.

Blu ray 3D print on demand would've been great.
Having seen this in 3D theaters, mostly medium layers of 3D, hardly any pop outs though, and a few stand out 3D scenes but pales in comparison to the medium to strong 3D of Aquaman 1. The TV advertisement was saying the next best 3D experience since Avatar 2 3D, but that is exaggerating a lot as this cannot even begin to compare to the 3D of Avatar 2's strong to sometimes very strong 3D layering in comparison. But still worth a watch in 3D for this film for those who might be seeing it digitally if that happens for AVP Apple Vision Pro for example. |

That's wishful thinking given the current scenario, but it would be perfect indeed.
James Cameron could advocate for it. But it's not enought to keep Blu-ray 3D alive. VR sets and other equipment should be made compatible with it. That's probably wishful thinking too, as Sony didn't even deign to put it on the PSVR 2. |

Wrong word used in that sentence. It should have been customer wants 3D at home.
Like I am a collector of several different things. I have been asked quite often what do you need with that? I reply back I don't need any of it, I want it. Big difference between need and want. |

I need 3D at home to be a customer of 3D at home. Can't buy what isn't being sold.
Seeing the "Honest Trailer" for this film, Aquabro2, allowed me to see some of the fun 3D scenes from it in 2D and it left me convinced that DC films are just like Marvel films in that they should be released only in 3D. |

It’s a pity that Japanese releases are so pricey. Sometimes it’s cheaper to buy two separate editions. |
