Apparently Arnold was supposed to be the Gary Busey character. But then he decided to do T2 instead and the rest is history. Now, T2, that's a really good sequel
No way, Glover owns, and he’s wayyy different to Murtaugh. Harrigan is a renegade hot-head who plays by his own rules, recklessly blasting fools with a shotgun and constantly getting punished for insubordination! He’s closer to Riggs than Murtagh.

Pred 2 is a superb sequel from the original writers, and wipes the floor with all the other fake Predator sequels (although I have a soft spot for Predators)

Predator 2 is the Alien 3 of the franchise. It feels oddly detached but it's still a good film that gets better as it rolls along. Personally, I always liked the setting, particularly the chaotic opening in downtown LA during a heatwave. Those neighborhoods still look that way today for the most part. Sooner or later the developers will take over, as they've done to NY and many other major metro areas.

I remember David Fincher saying due to the story they felt killing off the other characters was the best way to go forward with the story and I agree.

I first say Alien 3 at the theater when i was 15 and snuck in, got caught, had to watch Encino Man isstead and once that was done snuck into the next showing.
One of the most hated sequel decisions of all time and a slap in the face to audiences and JC frankly.

I like Predator 2 for what it is. A fun little action movie. It doesn't hit the highs of the first movie but there's a lot of solid Predator action and some entertaining performances.

Alien 3 never grew on me the way it has on a lot of people. I mostly enjoy Fincher but Alien 3 remains a dud in my book.

Extraordinarily happy that both of these are getting solo releases because I don't want to own the others in the franchise. Even at $5.99 Alien Covenant wasn't worth it. Really hope there's a steelbook.

I prefer the longer cut. But I'd love it if they also released the censored CBS TV cut for funsies.

I've been watching the alternate cuts of the whole 4 movies for years now, basically since they were made available on DVD.

Last time I watched the tetralogy I went back to the TCs.... and felt a void!
Really like the SEs of all four.

I still will take Alien 3 over Alien Resurrection any day. I checked Rotten Tomatoes to see if I am in the majority and, it is a toss up:

Alien 3 has critic score of 47% and audience score of 47%
Alien 4 has critic score of 53% and audience score of 39%

I was a teenager when Alien 3 came out and it appealed to my grunge personality, LOL.

Lol only if we suddenly get buzz about an incoming T2 4K remaster; that's when I'll realize this was all just fake news

Except that he plays him exactly like Murtagh. Without the moustache. That's his energy. If Glover had said 'I'm gettin' too old for this shit' at any point during Predator 2 it wouldn't have felt the least bit out of place.

I suppose that was sort of the appeal, that Glover wasn't a muscular he-man like Arnold, he was just a regular, old, somewhat out of shape, LAPD officer, going up against a great big beast who's in peak physical form and has a lot of high tech weaponry. The potential for great suspense and drama was there but, for me, the execution just wasn't there

I'm not sure about the setting personally. Again, the potential for drama was a lot bigger than what was actually delivered. Because in a city, the characters have a lot more tools at their disposal to use against the predator than they would in a jungle, where the Arnold character can only fashion makeshift traps. But again, aside from the scene in the slaughterhouse, the potential wasn't really utilised.

The best I can say about Predator 2 is that it should have been a lot better than it was. It needed Arnold, but he did Terminator 2 instead. It needed John McTiernan, but he did Hunt For Red October instead. Could've had both of them but the studio was just too cheap to pay for either of them, and look at the result. Both of them went and made classic cinema instead, and the studio was left with a fairly mediocre, fairly forgettable sequel

Alien 3 has grown on me a lot. I really enjoy its setting and tone. I also hated resurrection less the last time I saw it.

I love Predator 2 and despite being a huge fan of Arnold S. I didn’t miss him at all in the movie.

Branching would of coursh be preferable and should be the way to go. Disnee aren’t allergic to it like Warners are, they just don’t have a lot of alternate cuts bouncing around for whatever movies so don’t often have a reason to use it (though the Star Wars UHDs have different language crawls and clean subtitles shots that play when you select a foreign language, and didn’t the Blu of Beauty and the Beast have different versions on it?).
I've never gotten over my branching fears from DVDs and even some blu-rays that used to trigger stutters at the branching points on my players. I know it's supposed to have improved but honestly I'd rather just have two discs, one for each version. Shout for example, I'm actually happy they never attempt to do branching. Considering they can't even get audio right consistently, can you imagine Shout trying to handle branching?

I hear people mention flow a lot with the SE but I've never had an issue with pacing with the SE. I think it adds some important stuff.

Even that I enjoy. It's eerie as hell and links nicely to the original with the vision of the derelict. I never got the hate for that scene. Seeing her with her family, so normal just hours earlier, makes the shock even more hard-hitting when you see her not that long afterwards.
