I thought Iron Man was great, I loved every minute of it... But for me Batman Begins is a far better Comic Book adaptation.

There isn't much in it, but Batman still has the edge over Iron Man for me at least.

Cool

These movies are not comparable by any means. Like numerous people have said, Iron Man is more of a light hearted superhero movie. Batman Begins had a darker side, and we ALL KNOW that in the history of Batman, it's a story told to have a darker side. Having said that I enjoyed both movies, they're both MUST HAVES, but if I ABSOLUTELY had to pick one, it would definitely be BATMAN.

Transformers was one of the worst films of last year, I know that I am a minority in this opinion. The actors were flat and unlikable beyond the physical attractiveness of the females. The robots were like 13 year old white boys that try to act street. The bad robots weren't very bad and the good ones weren't very good. The only parts that I found funny were the parts that were meant to be serious.
Ironman was everything that Transformers should have been times a million. Top notch performances from an uber talented cast. Lots of humor and excitement that was more due to the emotional investment with the characters then just being a mindless special effects scene with boring people. Shia Lebouf is about as remarkable as a 1982 Honda Civic. In Transformers I didn't care who lived or died because they were all so boring.
That's what really grinds my gears. People talked about Transformers on this website like it was a masterpiece like Apocalypse Now and I don't get it. There must have been over 100 threads started on it just at this site.
I think I liked Ironman just slightly more than Batman Begins, but its a really tight race.

Totally, i feel exactly the same way too....don't get why it gets hailed here like the wholly grail....anyways to each his own i guess, but i totally agree with you on this one....

Although I don't particularly like either of them, I gave my vote to Batman Begins. Just think that overall, it's better as a superhero movie. Again, have virtually no interest in either.

I think there have been alot of lackluster films lately, and when someone finaly makes a good one, people go ape shit over it. Batman Begins, and Iron ARE the best in their league currently though imo.

Of course they are. In both films, the protagonist is a privileged, gifted kid who develops a unique skillset and undergoes some emotional or physical trauma. There is a soul searching element and then a metamorphosis that allows for a vengeance sequence under the guise of righteousness. Then there is a setback and a revelation that the initial conflict is deeper and hits closer to home than previously realized. Both films follow a very similar formula and both will spawn sequels. They are comparable in every way.

Actually, the politics of IM were more heavy because it brought in real current events into the plot. There is nothing light hearted about fighting the mujahudeen/taliban in Afghanistan or being taken a hostage there. Though I agree that much humor in the screenplay and acting lightened it up.

Which are you asking? The best movie based on a comic book character? Or the best presentation of the comic book character in a movie?

What was great about BB, was that it showed the evolution of the character in the same way that the comic book series did. He had a dark past, and was emotionally driven. The movie showed that dark side, and this character development was very interesting to watch. The movie was very true to the nature of the original Batman series. Which brings up an interesting point. How many of you out there have ever even read a Batman comic?

All of you who yawn until the action scenes come and then grade the movie based on the quality of CGI are missing the point. And you're missing great films too.

Two different kinds of Characters. Ironman I thought was more of an action movie, while Batman Begins was a character study.

I gotta go with Iron Man. I left the theater wanting more. Batman was awesome as well but Katie Holmes killed it for me. She sucks so bad! I'm looking forward to this next one with the Joker and an absent KH.

I don't get the hate for Katie Holmes. I thought she was fine in the roll she was asked to play.

Batman Begins. Still the best portrayal of Batman ever in any single film. They may have done their best with Iron Man, but he's just not as interesting a character as Batman. He lacks the dark, tortured side. The MCU should've explored his alcoholism to make him more interesting, but they just made a tiny nod to it in Iron Man 2 and moved on.
