Asian Movies Something I think very unique to a lot of asian movies is the sense of honor and pride and honesty the main characters have.

Twilight Samurai
The Hidden Blade
Love and Honor
A three part series from director Yôji Yamada. Amazing Group of movies. The only negative is that Twilight Samurai and The hidden Blade are very similar.

Mountain Patrol Kekexili
This is in the Netflix instant Q. I dont really know what to say except its a must see.

Letters From Iwo Jima
I dont know how "unknown" this film is being a Clint Eastwood film and all but if you haven't seen it go pick up the blu-ray NOW!

Riding Alone For Thousands Of Miles
Last but not least! My favorite ending to a movie ever. If you are a father you will cry like a school girl. I watched this over a year ago and I still think of this ending on a weekly basis. The movie is a little slow in the middle and the story telling is a little sloppy but like I said the most emotional Ive been at the end of a movie.

Documentaries A few of my favorites. All extremely heart wrenching.

Stevie
Born Into Brothels
Daughter from Danang

Other good ones

The Dish

The Lives of Others My favorite movie of the past few years. (Also on Blu!)

Kolya

Osama
Best movie I will never watch again.

Great Thread!

On blu, I really enjoyed The Lookout and Layer Cake. No one I know has ever heard of either one. Not on blu, The Station Agent is something I really liked. I'm not sure how obscure these are for this forum, but these don't even exist to anyone I know.

October Sky--Great family movie about a kid who wants to be a rocket scientist, who grows up in a poor Appalachian area. Stars a young Jake Gylenhall

Joyeux Noel (Merry Christmas)--Great WWI film based around the Christmas truce of 1914.

I Am David--Family movie with a young boy who escapes from a Communist prison camp to look for his mother. Jim Caveziel and Joan Plowright co-star.

Night Crossing--Disney movie released in '82 about a real-life East German family who escape over the wall to W. Germany using a hot air balloon.

The Lost Battalion--Another great WWI movie starring Rick Shroeder about American troops who fought against incredible odds after being surrounded in the Ardennes forest by German troops.

Zero Effect – By far my favorite Bill Pullman role as "the world's most private detective," whose highly sharpened and nuanced powers of deduction belie his utter social ineptitude. An unusually non-neurotic Ben Stiller plays his strait-laced foil. Everyone I've screened this movie to has thoroughly enjoyed it, with one friend commenting, "What a wonderful quirky movie!" Should be to your liking if you enjoyed Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

This is one I really hope to see on Blu-ray some day but I know it'll be years before Warner gets to it.

Among my fav films of all time there are several pictures directed by Luis Buñuel. These two masterworks have been recently released by Criterion. Now you can finally enjoy them in region 1 (USA & Canada)

Simón del desierto (Simon of the Desert)

El ángel exterminador (The Exterminating Angel)

Run Lola Run - We play this every time we set up a (Dolby Digital capable) theater to test the sound system. I've probably seen it 100 times and it never gets old.

Blood Diner.
I thought Troll 2 was the worst thing I had ever seen until I was made to watch this.

It's in a league of it's own crap.
I feel like I have to see the best to the worst and everything in between and this is def. the bottom of the totem poll.
