Thanks for the impressions. I was prepared for this to be a more rock album than metal. I would prefer it the other way, but I realize most artists with a multidecade career have to mix it up now and again. Curious to hear if the bonus tracks are any good. I've always been more of a deep cuts kinda guy anyway.

Yeah the new Megadeth is alright..anyone expecting another Peace Sells or Rust In Peace...forget it.. those days are long gone.... I like this one more than 13 but Endgame is still their best when it comes to their newer material. But there are some real good tracks on Super Collider..not the title track though lol

Megadeth have slowly migrated back to what ruined them in the late 90's..mid tempo rock music. Maybe something to do with Dave Ellefson being back in the band?

I've figured out the problem with this album after listening to it for the second time and some stuff from Endgame and Thirteen; it's Dave. Some of the lyrics are just laughable and he's singing too low. There's no changes in pitch on this album from him compared to the previous two. It all kind of runs together.

That being said, the second listen has helped me like this album a bit more. My favorites are Dance in the Rain, Forget to Remember, and the cover of Cold Sweat.

Quote:
According to online reports, MEGADETH was dealing with technical and lighting issues during the early part of its set at the Academy and was forced to go off stage for about 10 minutes after the sixth song, "Architecture Of Aggression", while the problems were being fixed. When the band returned, a angry fan was apparently booing Mustaine and flipping off the MEGADETH leader for having made everyone wait. This promoted Mustaine to launch into a minute-long tirade during whch he said: "You look like Eminem, you stupid ****."

He continued: "Listen, you guys pay a lot of money to see us play, and I don't wanna stand here in the dark. I mean, part of the whole MEGADETH show is us smiling and making that connection with you."

He then once again addressed the fan directly, telling him: "Get the **** out of here! Get this guy out of here! You blonde *****. C'mon up here. I've got a big cock for your face. [Making kissing sounds.] Here it comes… Stick that finger right up your ass, you little f****t."

This is a serious contender for the Album of the Year. Amazing from beginning to end - and from a bunch of geezers who haven't recorded anything since 1987!

Check out 1:52. This band could give Iron Maiden some lessons.

Agreed. It's a very close second for me just behind Infestissumam from GHOST. Even the album cover is a work of art.

This is also very good (song begins at 41 seconds)...

Gojira albums to be reissued on vinyl

Quote:
PROSTHETIC RECORDS TO REISSUE ACCLAIMED GOJIRA ALBUMS ON VINYL
Thursday, June 13th, 2013

By popular demand, Prosthetic Records will soon issue gatefold double-LP editions of the two albums that rocketed the French progressive tech-death quartet GOJIRA from the European underground to international stardom. “From Mars To Sirius” and “The Way Of All Flesh” — two of the most acclaimed metal releases of the past decade — will be released on vinyl on August 27. Pre-orders are available now.
Originally issued overseas in 2005, “From Mars To Sirius” — released by Prosthetic in 2006, and never before available on LP in North America — was the Western Hemisphere’s formal introduction to GOJIRA. One of MetalSucks’ Top 10 “best metal albums of the 21st Century so far,” the album was supported by U.S. tours with the likes of Lamb of God, Children of Bodom, Machine Head, Behemoth and Amon Amarth. The gatefold 2LP set will be available in three 180-gram variants: “Eco-Green” (600 copies), “Mars Red” (200 copies) and “Sea Blue” (200 copies), the latter two of which are mail-order exclusives.

Engineered, mixed and mastered by Logan Mader (Five Finger Death Punch, DevilDriver, Fear Factory), follow-up “The Way Of All Flesh” (2008) cemented GOJIRA’s status as one of metal’s most important acts. The band’s first release to crack the Billboard Top 200, the album — which features a guest appearance by Lamb of God front man Randy Blythe — was supported by tours with the likes of In Flames and All That Remains, in addition to a month touring North American arenas with Metallica. The gatefold 2LP set marks the first time in three years that the album will be available on vinyl, and it will be offered in two new variants: 180-gram clear (500 copies), and a mail-order exclusive, standard-weight blue/white split vinyl (500 copies).

I've only heard From Mars to Sirius (love) and the newest one (can't get into).

What other albums of theirs would you recommend to me the most?

Probably my favorite Gojira song...

I own The Way of All Flesh. Haven't listened to it in awhile though. Will have to it a listen.

And falconer, I did listen to that Ghost album. I have to go out and buy it now. It definitely grew on me.

I would say the Way of All Flesh is Gojira's best work. But From Mars to Sirius is right up there.

I'll check it out. Thanks!

The upcoming ORPHANED LAND album sounds like a legitimate contender for Album of the Year, based on the three songs released so far.

Anybody listen to Huntress? Jill Janus (their lead singer) is kinda hot. I really dig Eight of Swords. They have a new album coming out later this month I think.

I like them. I know a lot of people don't, but not everyone can have taste.
