I asked Network on Twitter about the chance of some Hitchcock silents on Blu, their reply was "that would be good wouldn't it?!" Which seems a lot more optimistic than their reply about a year ago saying there were no plans. I suspect the majority of the restorations were prohibited from home video releases until enough time has passed to preview them theatrically around the world, as happened over the last couple of years. Certainly I can't think of any releases I'd rather own, and it would tie in perfectly with their superb 'The British Film' releases.

Any confirmed word on whether the BFI release of Nosferatu The Vampyre will include the 2 commentary tracks mentioned in the Shout Factory press release? Otherwise I might have to retain by Anchor Bay set.

Kes was basically the film that made me go region free. I figured if an acknowleged British film treasure like Kes can't get a BD release here (and in a massively improved transfer), but can in the States where they have to provide an alternative dub with "normal" dialogue so the Yanks can understand what the characters are saying, then the old rules really don't apply anymore.

Just reading The Birmingham Post (I get it for free from work) and there's an article about Stuart Hall who died this week. I didn't know he had passed away

On this note, I recommend everyone to pick up the recent BFI DVD release - The Stuart Hall Project

I know If.... is being released soon by Eureka, but it's really bugged me that Kes and If.... have only been available on blu in the states. Two of the most British films you could imagine that most Americans wouldn't give a monkey's about owning.

Kes would be a nice one for the Arrow Academy line.

I wish the BFI had kept A Taste of Honey out of Studio Canal's hands - a blu from them would have been great.

I have a DVD-rom of PDFs from back when they released Loneliness, Saturday Night and ...Honey which used those three films as case-study examples of the British New Wave. Wasn't bad as I recall, although my Nan thought it was the most stupid Xmas present any of us had ever asked her for...

Blimey, didn't realise Honey had drifted out of print.

Those three are great examples, aren't they? (And I meant CD-ROM earlier - I knew it was one of the things after VHS but before Blu Ray )

It's not coming out till June and it does not appear to be a separate release anymore; it's part of a boxset, which is selling for around £40.

both look amazing but im not gonna spend that much money on a poster ^^ even the second one would be 77 GBP including shipping

maybe some highquality PNG of that poster or the BFI cover will be avaible online. would use that one at a print shop to get a 60x90cm print.

might double dip on the bluray if there are more bonus features on this release. i already got the criterion release. (nice cover as well !)
