If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times: I like Jar Jar, and I am in no way ashamed of that. He was a great source of much-needed comic relief, and I actually felt insulted when Lucas practically destroyed him in Episode II.

One day, after George becomes one with the force and Star Wars is rebooted, I hope they gave Jar-Jar a nice gratuitous death cameo. BTW, do you think a reboot will ever happen?

I dare someone to go back through this thread and count the times Beast popped up to say how awesome Jar Jar is. I bet it's 20 times.

I sincerely hope not. As a whole, "Star Wars" is largely considered a priceless piece of cinematic history, and as such, I don't think I'd ever want it redone from scratch. Having a sequel trilogy, in 3D animated form, with all the cast reprising their roles in voice, would be awesome, though. I'd really like to see some of Timothy Zahn's work adapted in that vein.

Love him also. Pretty much my favorite Star Wars character of all time. Including both the OT and PT.

Sadly too many whiny fanboys online caused that. But at least he's had some good episodes in Clone Wars.

Unlikely. There's no reason for a reboot. And unlike most other franchises, the story has outgrown just the original story.

Your comment is incorrect. "Amazing" can be used to describe a negative as well. Eg. "It's amazing how annoying I find Jar Jar to be." or "I always find it amazing that George Lucas chose to give Jar Jar such an unintelligible voice."

Jar Jar was the movie equivalent of nails grating on a chalkboard. Every time he came onscreen, it just made you squirm. If George would've toned down the idiocy of the character, it might - might - might have worked.

I enjoy Jar-Jar my self, although saying that he does have some over the top moments in Episode I. like at Anakin's house at dinner, and when they first leave Naboo and get attacked by the giant sea creature. i didn't mind that he kinda dwindled off, it fit the story and he served his purpose.

For the umpteenth time, Jar Jar was supposed to be an idiot; that's the entire point. He's an alien on a distant world, banished from his own city for being clumsy, who has almost no awareness of anything around him, apart from his race's warrior lineage, and his affinity for food. then, one day, he's almost flattened by a huge robot, saved by a Jedi he's never met, and winds up thrown into an all-out war over galactic trade disputes. You think his behavior's going to be sensible or rational? Try again.

+1

Strange that I didn't even realize how hated he was (or the film, for that matter) until I got introduced to the online Star Wars fan community shortly before Ep. II.

Something that'll always bring a smile to my face is the memory of seeing AotC in theaters at midnight - and when Jar Jar made his entrance, there were two single reactions in sequential order. One teenage guy who booed at him, and immediately following - a teenage girl who enthusiastically yelled: "Go Jar Jar!!" Good times.

I was hoping it would be entertaining.

It wasn't.

Well, I like him, and I think he's a very well-done character. Every time I watch TPM, I just smile at his antics.

How could an idiot like Jar-Jar ever be a senator? Absolutely asinine.

To be fair, my main problem with Jar-Jar was also my problem with the pod race and the interminable chases and much of the rest TPM - it was just too much and it went on too long.

GL has never been the most subtle guy in the world but TPM just beat stuff into the ground until even the cool parts became incredibly tedious.

Don't follow U.S. Politics very closely do you? Or any politics in general.

Plus he was a General and was a huge part in not only saving the Queen but the Naboo people.
