This will be the first time I see one of these movies in the theaters since 2 Fast 2 Furious. Fiancee is making me watch all of these movies since I haven't watch anything past the third film.

I believe they're both separate sections. I think they constructed another building for the F&F part.

Furious 7 RT @ 86%:

Critics Consensus:

Serving up a fresh round of over-the-top thrills while adding unexpected dramatic heft, Furious 7 keeps the franchise moving in more ways than one.

I truly enjoy 4-6 very much. Everything about them screams my kind of movie, so I anticipate I'll enjoy 7 equally.

Agreed with you whole heartedly.

I remember back in 2003 when I came out of the theatre I said to my friend "OMG that opening street race was well worth the price of admission!"

Looking back on it, it was a pretty lazy movie. Where John Singleton used CG, Justin Lin could have done with practical effects no problem.

Lin is the new action king.
I have been comparing him to a mix of Woo and McTiernan since I walked out of Drift on opening day

John Singleton was the worst possible choice to direct a Fast and Furious movie. The fact he tried to make an updated version of the Dukes of Hazzard says he had no clue what he was doing with the material.

I don't know if the director would've really mattered. The material was weak. Paul Walker alone wasn't good enough to carry the movie. Tyrese was annoying in that one, constantly b-tching at Walker for betraying him when they were younger. The supporting cast was worthless. And the racing scenes weren't all that great either, especially the first one which used far too much CGI.

Say what you want about 2 Fast 2 Furious but the racing scenes were not bad. The first scene was probably the best part of the movie. The tag team and high race/chase were also really good.

It's a watchable movie. I don't think it's as horrible as some make it out to be. But it's a step down from the first one which itself wasn't all that good IMO. Honestly, this entire series didn't get good til the 5th movie. I think retroactively people cut those earlier entries some slack since they laid the groundwork for what was to come(even if it was unintentional and done via retconning). But so far the only ones I've really liked were 5 and 6. That's fine with me though. I prefer a series that gets better as it progresses rather than the opposite. To be honest, I can't think of another one that followed that trajectory.

One thing I remember about that first race was being amazed and how awesome that Skyline looked/sounded. Before that, there had never been a North American film showcasing an R34 let alone a Skyline.

2 Fast 2 Furious is a guilty pleasure, but I enjoy the hell out of it.

Oh, and Eva Mendes made the film even better.

The growth of the series is incredible. The fight scenes have no reason to be this good being a huge martial arts fan, I'm glad. I'm also glad they are really making Tony Jaa shine here but the cgi Walker, while good, is still noticeable. I'm quite sure the body is Cody's because of some of the behind the scenes stuff I've seen.

I highly enjoyed it. Paul and Tyrese are fun to watch as far as I'm concerned.

It is rare indeed that a series actually gets better as it goes along. James Wan looks to have done a solid one with 7, but I must admit that it looks just like a Lin film. Justin Lin established a look that the rest of the series has come to be defined by. Fast cars, gorgeous girls, and exotic locations for our mains to play around in. Furious 7 adds Statham and Russel (who looks awesome) to the mix. Russel really looks to be having a grand old time. I'm also sure now that there will have a deeper emotional thread to this one. At least as deep as an F&F movie can get due to the death of Paul Walker. If it is true that Lin is stepping back in for the final two, though I really don't see Universal stopping at 9 if this series keeps raking in the dough, then that is a good thing because he did set the bar for what Fast & Furious is as a series. The first films are all fun, don't get me wrong, but Lin brought a measure of dare I say dignity to the series. And isn't it weirdly ironic how James Wan came to do Furious 7 because he wanted to get away from the horror genre for a while to prevent pigeonholing and Lin wanted to break from F&F to try out some other things too, but now the two have rebounded back into their original positions with Wan moving back to his original wheelhouse and Lin coming back to F&F. Really. Wan gave a legitimate new face to the horror genre and Lin gave a legitimate face to a series that started as a street racing film and has gone on to be an incredibly entertaining heist saga.

I know there is no way Paul would win in real life but at least they're showing Jaa's dominance and skill in the fight. Fast Five was amazing but my biggest complaint is the damage Vin Diesel did to The Rock just didn't make any sense.

It might be the youtube compression talkin', but if that's a CG FrankenWalker doing all that stuff then that's the best darn CG I've ever seen.
