I don't think Warner owns the third film anymore. They lost the Morgan Creek library.

The prequels as well, Sony released a double feature DVD with them in 2017.

It’d be nice if Sony released them on Blu-ray for those that missed out.

I think those were already owned by Sony. Warner made various deal with other studios for box sets (MGM for Mad Max, MGM and Lionsgate for Terminator 1-2, etc).

No, they’re Morgan Creek titles and Warner distributed MC when they did their Exorcist DVD and Blu collections. Sony became Morgan Creek’s distributor in 2017, hence the DVD double-feature.

The Exorcist Anthology on DVD and Blu were made up of titles Warner controlled at the time with no licensing deals with outside companies.

I see Shout doing 4Ks of at least 2, Dominion, and The Beginning.

I honestly think that someone is going to do a new 4K of The Exorcist, without any of Friedkin's screwery this time. Not only is that disc the biggest 4K disappointment of 2023, but now the guy who borked it isn't around anymore to torment the poor people restoring the film.

I'll say this as many times as I have to: if someone finally releases a normal copy of The Exorcist, I will buy it immediately.
