I think the only grievance I have with it is the implication that the relationship between Molly and John didn't work out. After what happened in the previous movies, that kind of sucks.

Well... Then they don't pay attention. There are plenty of collectors that still have Plasmas or 1080p projectors that care if the Bluray included has the new transfer or not. And...it just takes one freaking sentence!!!

That's funny you say that, last night I was up late watching my new favorite 4K disc and my mind was wondering and I was thinking how different Vengeance would've played out if John was in a better place in the film, happy with Holly.

But I wouldn't give up my hungover, a-hole McClane for all the gold in your Fort Knox.

"What is this, a tag team?".....

Also, With A Vengeance is a freaking masterpiece, I don't care what anybody says. Sadly, McTiernan's last great film.

Yes. Much better than his Bond roles.

Viewed my copy Friday night. These new TVs being made today have so many picture settings I don't have a clue what's right and what's wrong. I didn't see much of an uptick in PQ but since more people are saying it's an improvement than not I'm inclined to think I simply don't have the correct settings. Overall the picture looked dark to my eyes. I don't regret the purchase but I'm certainly glad I didn't pay the thirty bucks Best Buy is asking.

People thinking this will blow their minds with its PQ will be disappointed but that doesn't mean it's a bad transfer.

To my eyes there seems to be a noticable increase in details every now and then but it's not a huge difference all the time as far as I could tell. There are many softer shots as well. Also am I right the picture was unstable during two shots of Willis at the beginning of the movie when he is having a conversation with that man on the plane? That looked a bit weird to me.

As for the rest I think colors look better and more natural and there is more information in the brightest parts. I didn't think the picture looked overly dark like others have mentioned, black levels and contrast sure are nice.

All in all a worthy upgrade I would say, I don't think it can look any better than this. I think the source material isn't exactly one to lend itself for looking like The Mummy 1999 or Starship Troopers. I'm actually thinking the results will be more or less the same with Die Hard 2 whenever it hits UHD. I just hope that will be sooner rather than later, same goes for the rest of the series. Really looking forward now in watching them all on UHD when doing a marathon.

That is extremely important to many many buyers. I only bought the 4K of Unforgiven because the Bluray included in it had the new transfer on it and it was amazing by the way.

Now from what I can gather this has the old disc included with it. While disappointed with that fact I am more disappointed that the damn review of the package didn't mention that fact!

In fact with his line about not understanding why anyone wouldnt want to upgrade this title I would conclude even the 1080p bluray did have the new transfer on it!!!
Im in the process now of just buying a UHD player. I don't have a 4K set up and 4K projectors won't be cheap any time soon however even set on 1080 output you still get the benefit of the new transfer. I can't expect them to keep including remastered blu-rays when they are trying to sell a new format.

I know what you're referring to. That opening scene always had a couple weird spots where the motion was odd. The old blu-ray also had that weird motion in that scene, as he was getting up. It probably dates back to how it originally looked. For some reason that scene always had a bit of odd motion as far as I can remember. Of course I don't remember if that's how it looked in the theatre.

It was a no win situation. Ellis was stupid and arrogant, and he put himself in jeopardy.

Christ, man. Can't you see what's happening? Can't you read between the lines?
He did everything he could to save him. If he gave himself up, they'd both be dead right now.

I never owned any iteration of the Blu ray. I upgraded from the 5-star collection DVD out of necessity, and I was very underwhelmed by the transfer. I understand it's a 30 year old film, but nonetheless, not impressed.

God I love this movie. Every time someone quotes it, I just want to watch it again.

Then have I got a UHD blu-ray for him. It's little-known film that stars Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta. He'll love it.
