If it was based on Friendship is Magic I would definitely get one.

Never seen the original except clips. Still a pretty cool figure/crossover.

These actually happened and unless you were affected by them chances are 99% of the time you forget or have to look up information. It is quite plausible that ppl would just ignore or forget about the 84 or 89 incidents in NYC same as they would any other event that has nothing to do with them.

Ghosts, giant marshmallow men and an animated statue of liberty tho. The GBs are treated like a cultural phenomenon in the film. It's less likely you would forget about the real event than a fictional movie with two sequels*. If it were IRL, they'd have made movies about it. It would be a Netflix original already.

Or one of those "true crime" type shows...obviously not a crime, but people claiming it's a hoax, others being too obsessed, and maybe 1 or 2 GBs for an on camera interview...

As for that list of events, I remember all of them and when there's a reference made to them I know exactly what they are talking about. However, that's not true for teenagers today, like the kids in the movie...the movie that should've been released today...that I should be getting ready to see right now...the movie we've been waiting for...don't cry, don't let them see you cry...

Can't get through that video. I'll wait for a version that doesn't have a pig scoffing popcorn in my ears.

"Utoya"

It was on an island and in downtown Oslo , not school related

Also Palme murder happened in '86 (Swedens pm gunned down)

9/11 and Berlin Wall was much much MUCH bigger events than the others mentioned

So the plot of this has apparently leaked, and it sounds like bad fanfiction with the comedy greatly diminished. In a sequel to two comedies.

It sounds like the kind of garbage that an autustic Ghostbusters fan who is obsessed with proton packs and ghost traps would write because he has no understanding of comedy.

Writing a Ghostbusters movie should be a case of the tail wagging the dog, where you put together a funny group of people and you write the stupid lore bullshit the night before you have to turn it in to the studio. Of course, this plot leak suggests that the exact opposite happened. And if a certain castmember doesn’t become a Ghostbusters it will be proof that Jason Reitman was right when he said he was the wrong man for the job for decades when people would ask him to make a 3rd Ghostbusters movie.

Are you referring to the plot leak from 9 months ago?

Or is there a different one floating about?

It's new. It's also very suspect and very vague. There's zero mention of the kids so it's probably BS.

Doesn't really mention them at all. But if it fits your bias, I'm sure its real.

Looking through that the kids are only mentioned once.

Interesting leak though. We'll see how much of it is real when a new trailer comes out.

Not sure what being autistic has to do with writing bad scripts, but okay, go off. Dan Aykroyd is on the autism spectrum and has a great interest in the paranormal, so technically the first Ghostbusters was "autistic fan-fiction garbage", as you so eloquently put it.

I read the new leaks too, and it doesn't sound show-stopping, I'll give you that, but, assuming it is real, why don't we wait to see how it all plays out first? From the sound of the leak- it's doing what most, if not all reboots do- starting fresh, while still tying it into the existing lore of the originals. I'm honestly sick and tired of "fans" thinking they know exactly how a property should be handled, and any other viewpoint other than their skewed, biased one is "garbage".

You don't like the sound of it, so cool- don't go see it. But don't bash it so prematurely and diminish the expectations and excitement that other fans may feel.

It fits everything we’ve seen. If you want to call me biased for expecting the third Ghostbusters movie to be an ensemble improv comedy like the other two then I’ll cop to that. Seems like the most appropriate bias in the history of biases but yeah, I guess it is bad.

Aykroyd is autustic but he’s also funny, so there’s no point in bringing them up.

I’m talking about the mentally deranged Ghostbusters fandom. People who say they want a serious Ghostbusters movie. People who say they watched the movies for years without recognizing the fact that they’re comedies. People who don’t even like the movies and see an animated version written for children as the darker, more adult version. When the 2016 movie came out the same week as Stranger Things I remember someone on the subreddit saying that the 2016 movie failed in capturing the tone of the originals (and it did) and that Stranger Things nailed it, which is absolutely insane.

Wading around in the fandom, you’ll find there are two kinds of Ghostbusters fan: the kind that wants to be funny, and the kind that wants to dress up as a Ghostbuster. There are people who think Rick Moranis’s speech about Gozer is hilarious, and there’s the kind that writes Wikipedia pages about what all that nonsense means. The people who made Ghostbusters go into one category, and this movie seems like it was made for the other kind of person.

Fact: people don’t like Ghostbusters because of the lore. Probably not even 1 person out of 100 could tell you who Ivo Shandor is, or even Gozer or Zuul or Vinz Clortho are. Ghostbusters was a phenomenal success because it is a funny movie, and the instant you set about making a more serious Ghostbusters movie you have failed miserably. To make a serious Ghostbusters movie is to make a movie that isn’t truly Ghostbusters.

This is like how people think the first Gremlins is "dark and gritty" compared to the meta, fourth-wall-breaking sequel, when it's still a silly comedy jam-packed with visual gags and in-jokes.

Exactly. It had a flashing Gremlin and a leggings-wearing Flashdash Gremlin and Gremlings singing Christmas carols.

Fact: if you would like to see a serious Gremlins movies then you don’t like Gremlins.
