The Dolby Vision layer? It's like that on every UHD BDinfo of a disc with DV to my knowledge.

As said, the Dolby Vision layer is carried as a 10-bit 1920x1080 transport stream. This is true of every single Dolby Vision UHD disc.

Yes. All three cuts have been derived from the same base restoration. Ignore what you might've heard elsewhere.

Thanks, good to hear. Obviously the days of walking blindly into a department store and being able to find what you need on release date are LONG behind us, but I just couldn’t wrap my head around them not carrying this. After all, they tend to stock the regular Blu anyway.

I was looking at the pages for Rocketman and Godzilla: King Of The Monsters, both of which I had planned on picking up with Apocalypse Now. Both of those releases had options for a store location, despite not appearing on shelves until Tuesday, while the latter film said “online only.” Obviously things can change, it just gave me cold feet. But as you say, it might have to do with it being a catalogue release. And I’ve had plenty of experience asking for someone to get crap out of the back, believe me

I was going to, just curious if anybody had any info to share.

Any tinkering with the original mix as far as you can tell aside from obviously the new re-mix?

I haven't compared them so I don't know. I don't watch movies in surround so am not the best person to aks anyway.

The new BD is much more filmic but the compression on the new '79 & Redux disc isn't great at times (one wonders if this was why the old transfer was filtered as much as it was, to level off the grain and make it easier to compress).

Still isn't working. Thought it might today - at least the day before. Try again tomorrow!

What footage has been cut out that's in the redux cut?
In addition to what's already been stated, the French plantation scene runs almost four minutes shorter. The cuts are spread out. Some stuff right after they get off the boat. Some after they encounter the soldiers. During the dinner, Christian Marquand never goes to the window during his story about the mountain. The accordion player never plays the Star Spangled Banner, etc.

Lionsgate's best 4K release so far. FFC needs to do Godfather now! What a gorgeous transfer. Need to watch the final cut next.

Was anything cut from when they leave the plantation? The way it transitions from the seduction scene back to everyone being on the boat in the mist is a bit jarring, but if it was that way before then fair enough. Damn, I feel like I gotta watch Redux next.
