A double dip on In the Heat of the Night for me. I've never heard of Mikey and Nicky before but it sounds f***ing amazing so i'm looking forward to checking that out.

Just got the email from criterion that the flash sale is indeed tomorrow, noon EST. I’m ready!

That's superb news. Though, the only Criterion e-mail I've got today is the January announcements.

Weak month over all for me as I don't place a lot of value in those MGM double dips. The extras are nice, but as always, I'd rather just get a film that hasn't been released on blu yet.

Definitely buying Mickey and Nicky, though (hopefully this leads to The Heartbreak Kid). The other two are good movies and I do want them on my shelf, I just don't anticipate rewatching them much.

Notorious is an instant purchase for me. I'll have to look into the others before I make any decisions about those, though.

Color timing debate aside; if Criterion put the feature on it's own disc with the features on a separate disc it'll be an instant for me.

Notorious is one of the most glamorous movies ever made, and every still frame is a work of art in its own right. I love my MGM disc, but this is a movie that should be viewed in the best possible picture quality.

I have been spending a good dime on double-dips lately from the likes of Shout Factory or Arrow, although I get the feeling that some of these are stopgap releases until they come out on 4K UHD Blu-ray someday, but, still, I'm all over this Criterion edition of the Hitchcock film.

Every one except that car POV of Ingrid's where you can see her "hair" all over the lens! One of the worst, most ridiculous shots in cinematic history if you ask me. Great movie otherwise, though!

I'm usually very much of this mind too but I'm kind of on board (or at least a little more interested) with these two. And I have and really like the MGM discs.

I'm in no huge rush to upgrade but I'll probably get both of these (and Rebecca while I'm at it) at some point.

Honestly, as of fifteen minutes ago I'd never even heard of it but it sounds right up my alley on about fifteen different levels.

On a separate and completely trivial note, I was really hoping they would reuse the Notorious DVD cover art.

I'm not disputing that it isn't a film worthy of numerous double dips. In fact, I will probably end up purchasing the new release. I'm just generally salty about double dipping if the difference in quality is not substantial. If the last release was a 4/5, is a 4.5/5 really worth shelling out another $20?

I say this as a Thrifty Shopper/Criterion Completist/Moderate fan of Notorious/Double Dip Crank so take what I say with a grain of salt. It's awesome it's part of the collection, just less awesome for this particular collector.

Maybe I'm just overdue for a Hitchcock marathon. It's been over ten years since I've last seen some of his films (including Notorious). Maybe I'm on the outside looking in.

Knowing your tastes, it absolutely won't disappoint. Elaine May was a true great and seemingly mastered every type of comedy from dark to screwball (if that's what Ishtar, the lovely Ishtar is).

I think I'm also willing to cut these a little more slack because the MGMs are OOP.

Yeah, at first glance alone it checks off like ten boxes.

Normally this might be true, but the MGM Notorious is quite rough. It's a faded and damaged old master that I think if you went back and watched it, you'd see it's certainly in need of an upgrade.

I'm in for Hitchcock,Kiarostami and Jewison. Glad I held off on the subpar release of In the Heat of the Night.

If 4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 Days is as good as I've heard, it will be a minor quibble for me. I'm stoked this is getting a release. I absolutely loved Graduation-it really surprised me just how much I did enjoy it, and I'm grabbing Beyond the Hills tomorrow.
