We had this one customer, he was quite young, he would come into the store regularly, spent an hour or so chatting to us, mostly wasting our time as he often didn’t buy anything, and when he did it was only a $5-$20 item. He seemed pretty normal at first when speaking with him, however, after a few visits, he started harping on about stocking up on stuff we sold, because he was planning to go and live out in the sticks in a bunker when 5G launched . He left his diary in the store one time, so we checked it to see whether he had his contact details in it... we saw some of the things he had written in there, his brain was cooked.

lmao Steedeel left his diary in your store?

If the HDD ever fails then it will become a doorstop because there is no store to re-download content that we/you have purchased.

Stop yer ing over Sony's digital content going the way of the Dodo bird. Chalk it up to lesson learned not to trust digital.

Go buy The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy extended editions on blu-ray. Do it now. Do it again when they are available on 4K.

If you can't afford them because you spent everything on your elaborate gear, I'll see if I can start a fundraiser for you.

I was thinking that. How the heck do you manage that? “Oh boss, can you throw the cost of my cable package in there too?”

I personally do not keep a diary as I do not see the point in documenting my own madness. Let others do it; I have schemes and plots to carry out leaving no time for such introspection.

Laura Palmer liked to keep one. Look how things went for her!

Actually that movie (which I of course already own, it's a freaking classic, after all) is part of the inspiration for my user name but it was mostly this...

[Show spoiler]

It wasn't a great book but the idea of an online's game AI finding ways to kill players IRL was pretty catchy and fun and just kind of popped into my head when I was signing up for dial-up bulletin boards in the mid/late 80s. And the movie was cool. So it just kind of stuck. From then on, whenever I sign up for an account of pretty much any type 'octagon' is the first user name I try to snag.

I would need to insert, load up, and eject a disc more than 10 times before I considered ripping to be a time saving option for me.
Toward the end of the DVD era I ripped all my discs to hard drives and watched through an HTPC and it was pretty freaking cool. Sure, the setup is very time consuming (and definitely not for everyone) but being able to filter and scroll and search through all your discs was very cool and it came in really handy for TV series.

Being able to scroll through something like The Twilight Zone or The Honeymooners or Columbo by episode made those shows much more accessible.

Sold my X10 right before UHD disc became available so I recouped part of my investment. I post about just to show folks if your media is not covered by the First Sale Doctrine then it could disappear and there is nothing you can do about it. My few LP's from 50 years ago will still play (if I had a turntable), CD's, DVD's, D-Theater tapes and BD's all continue to play.

I will put the LOTR's in my Netflix disc queue and give them another go.

With your projector and your amazing sound set-up, watching these should be awesome. If you lived a little closer, I'd invite myself over.

With your 85" Sony I'm sure you are enjoying all your Movies, probably watching them a second time. By the way, have you had a chance to check out Amazon Prime, is it still giving you problems? A new Season of Goliath and Jack Ryan should be very tempting.

The new TV is a an absolute delight. Watching anything and everything has been a blast.

I have not tried streaming anything from Amazon Prime on the new TV. I might try it tonight as I do have a few things on my Amazon watchlist. I am not expecting any better results, but I'll take them if it happens. All other streaming services that I use have performed as expected.

That solid PQ should just be obvious that your Hard Wired connection is that extra plus. Enjoy your Movies and TV Shows, and let us know your great UHD TV Experience!

It has nothing to do with his wired connection.

You're not drawing me into another hard wired vs. wireless debate. Not tonight.

I am in a great mood and I all I want do this evening is to watch something fun. New toys needs lots of playing with and that's my only plan.

I watched three movies back to back from Amazon Prime tonight with my new TV and I had no issues of any kind.

I am not suggesting that my new TV made any difference in this exceedingly rare outcome. It was, however, the longest single viewing session that I have had using Amazon Prime because it was the first time that using it did not tick me off. Tonight might have just been a lucky fluke, elven magic, or the result of my good clean living , I dunno. One successful session was a welcome experience, but it remains to be seen if this will continue.

It could hurt if he wanted to watch a UHD BD rip via his wired LAN and if his TV has a 100 Base-T connection like yours. In Vilya's case it would not matter because his Oppo 203 has a 1000 Base-T connection so he could use it.
