why the ?
theres elements (the derelict, the space jockey chair) directly from Alien in the trailer. theres also a still from the movie with several space jockey suits in the background.

Well I didn't know that, I also don't know Alien well enough to know if that really means anything, then again unlike most I like Aliens a lot more than Alien anyway.

those are the same helmets all the other normal human characters are shown wearing, i dont see what you are talking about.

There is a greenish-yellow gelatinous form above the heads of the figures on the left. Perhaps something out the urns/ampoules in the giant head room. The suits and helmets they are wearing differ markedly from the suits of the figures on the right in the blue glow.

the figures on the right arent even from Prometheus.
heres a higher res version of that pic, where you can plainly see its a normal glass helmet with a normal person inside:

theres a vertical yellow bar at the back of the helmet, is that what you are talking about?

and heres a close up of Charlize Theron wearing the exact same helmet.

You might be right, but there is an odd wormy thing going on inside the helmet of the guy between the T and H. Most of what I see in the Vicker's still is a reflection of the panels on either side and in front of her helmet. There does seem to be a vertical yellow strip directly behind her head.

Also, the faces of the armed people in the first shot do not look normal to me.

well as evident in the shot of Theron, the shape of the glass helmet bends light and warps the appearance of things seen through it and reflected in it. i think youre reading way too much into it.

Plus the design and shape of the helmet is supposed to resemble an egg for artistic reasons.

But The Thing (2011) was definitely a prequel, except too many people became jaded and apathetic towards the movie and doomed it to being a "reboot/remake".

yeah but thats because The Thing had the same exact title and plot (whether it was happening to different characters in the same 'universe' or not), you can tell just by the trailer that Prometheus isnt anything like Alien.

Yea, I am a bit apprehensive about the Space Jockey part of it. A L I E N is one of my top favorite films, and I LOVE the part when they discover the fossilized Space jockey. It gives you all kinds of ideas of it's purpose and origin. It's a great mystery.

I just don't know if I really want it explained. But I guess that we will just have to wait and see.
