I met Velvet Sky and Angelina Love this weekend and they both had nothing but bad things to say about Dixie Carter. Velvet said the reason TNA sucks right now is because of Dixie and how she's such a terrible business woman, which was funny considering she's still under contract with them.
Also, we were talking about how great the knockout division once was compared to where it's at now, and they both credit Vince Russo as the reason why the knockout division was as great as it was. They said as soon as he left, TNA started to lose focus on the division since he was the only person behind the scenes that actually cared about it. |

ECW was never a real threat to WWF, ECW was as much of a threat to WWE as TNA is.
WCW was WWF's biggest threat, and if it wasn't for the corrupt behind the scenes backroom dealmaking, WCW is probably still not owned by Vince. TNA is actually more accomplished than ECW was from the standpoint of TV deal-PPV, it's just WWE has grown 10 fold since those days. Sigh. If Vince buys TNA, I've pretty much given up on wrestling. No real alternative (ROH is not a real alternative as it's still indy as much as anything). Sting won't go to WWE even if Vince buys TNA. Sting will not put over Undertaker, as there's no reason for him to go to WWE and set up one big match only for Undertaker to "bury" him. Shane no longer works for WWE, but if he bought it I don't see at all why he would compete with his dad. |

Oh man that would be EPIC. I've been hanging out for Shane to return to the Wrestling business for years.

It's just that these kind of story lines as well as invasions always fall flat for me. The owners never lock the doors or arrest anybody, or just say you're not under contract. No more entrance music. You'll be arrested if you get in the ring. Oh and by the way, I made a new belt. Yours is worthless. Granted this is leading up to an interim champ and unification but it's such a hokey way to do it.

Once Vince had all of his kayfabe wrestlers (Undertaker, Kane, etc) and even heel wrestlers go out in public and do these charitable fundraisers or support the troops stuff, it kind of dissolves any of the fantasy you have about wrestling. Now am I saying it's bad for them to do these good deeds? No, but there used to be a fine line between wrestlers and the real world, and over the years Vince has pretty much gotten rid of it. In the Mid 90's there was AOL and the internet chatrooms, but there wasn't major social media that spotlighted the wrestlers all day 24/7. Could you imagine Hall-Nash-Hogan one night beating down DDP, then the next day all 4 of them showing up at a PR event completely out of character? Vince has done everything he can to promote the fact that Wrestling in the ring is real, but everything out of the ring everyone's friendly and co-workers and a family on the road. For better or for worse, that's the modern day wrestling image he's promoted. I mean, if you really want to get down to it, the Wyatt Family beat up and assaulted Daniel Bryan back stage during his interview, in an unsanctioned environment. Vince should be suing the Wyatt's for assault and breach of contract, while Daniel Bryan should be suing Vince for lack of security and suing the Wyatt's for assault. |

Jeff Jarrett has announced on Twitter that he has resigned from TNA effective immediately.
I want to believe that he's trolling / this is a work, but if not, I'm guessing Dixie didn't want to pay him nothing either or he's irate they lost Styles. Could this company be any more fu**ed? ![]() Last edited by Agent Bond; 12-23-2013 at 09:46 PM. |

I honestly feel like TNA's treading thin at the moment. All the budget cuts, roster cuts, etc... at first they got rid of the dead weight. Now....it seems like they nickel and dime-ing to the bone. I don't want to see TNA fail and close up shop, but if Jarrett's left the company and he still has an ownership (but not controlling) stake in the company. Then he's cashing out while he still can and he sees the writing on the wall. He's been the creative control since Bisch got sent home and the one getting things back on track. To lose him is, bottom line, the dumbest thing this side of letting AJ Styles walk away. Say what you will about his wrestling career but he clearly has a mind for the business and a passion. I can't say the same about Eric "gimme my paycheck and my son a job" Bischoff.... In my opinion, Jeff Jarrett, Scott D'Amore, Raven and a couple others should be in charge of booking. Raven knows to keep evolving... they never should have lowballed Paul Heyman.

I stopped watch TNA a few years ago... just after Hogan et al came in. Was going great until that moment. Then they got rid of every discernible difference they had from WWE that made them unique and compelling to watch.
They copied WWE and objectified the women, pretty much. Division got woeful. The X-Division was immense and they overplayed the hell out of that and diluted it with WWE rejects. They took away the 6-Sided ring, which I loved. The matches got pretty lackluster too. The last match I watched and loved in TNA was the string of epics between Kurt Angle and Desmond Wolfe. I want THIS current iteration to fail, and a wrestling fan with big bank balance to buy the company and restore the things that made TNA special and go from there, but I doubt anyone could outbid Vince. I'd just hope he doesn't want it. Then, the door's open. Last edited by StevenHarvey1990; 12-23-2013 at 09:04 PM. |
