Ditto. I was playing the Star Wars RPG at the time, and created a Gungan of my very own.

Tar Ter Breen. Was a Gungan Bounty Hunter/Smuggler. And had a Dug Sidekick.

Maybe Beast is the screen name for Ahmed Best.

He wasn't. Padme appointed him as her representative to the Senate, while she was away. He didn't need to solve galactic peace or anything; she just wanted him to make sure her standards were upheld. This is particularly confusing, however, since Jar Jar knew how much Padme was against Palpatine having more power. Why would he then be fooled, into thinking she'd be in favor of it? He's clumsy, but not stupid.

LOL and thats the biggest problem with GL's writing and directing in the PT's, Sith was the only good movie of the 3 and Jar Jar dork wasn't in it.

I love Liam Neeson there - "Don't do that again..."

Well, Palpatine manipulated everyone like a master. With Padme and Anakin in danger, Sidious only had to plant the seed.

Mas Amedda: This is a crisis. The Senate must vote to give the chancellor emergency powers. He can then approve the creation of an army without a vote.

Palpatine: But what senator would have the courage to propose such a radical amendment?

Mas Amedda: If only Senator Amidala were here.

I also liked when Jar Jar's head got caught between Anakin's podracer engines, and his tongue was paralyzed. That made me laugh so much.

I remember seeing Ep. I for like the 4th or 5th time in the cinema - I went with my friend Michael and he was rolling in his theater seat when Jar Jar has his tongue hanging out and gives a thumbs up.

Scary. My name is Michael and that's how I felt. Though I saw it 15 times in the theater.

I wonder if you had a look at the US senate in recent years

Myself, I always liked Jar-Jar, I found him funny, a bit silly. Mostly he reminded me (and I have said this before) of young Woddy Allen in his early movies, a bumbling coward put into extraordinary situation, like in Bananas or Love & Death.

I was disapointed that Lucas decided to cut down on his role after the reaction of the fans about him, the fans who always complaint he does not listen to them, you know the ones I wish he would have stick to his guns like he does all the time.

Okay, from now on I'll view Jar-Jar as a political statement. Should make him much more palatable

Ah, yes, the only argument PT lovers have - if you don't like it, you're not a SW fan, there's something wrong with you, don't watch them, etc.

The prequels are not good movies by filmmaking standards. Bad scripts, uninteresting characters, weak dialogue, etc. Nearly anybody who's not a huge Star Wars fan will agree. There's a reason the prequels were critically panned.

Beast, are you the one that used to post on the Smallville (kryptonite) forums under the same name and similar icon?

Excellent movies? (just a joke before the prequel posse start going off on one)

The prequels are far from excellent movies. I love that fact that so many prequel fans blame the internet for why TPM was so widely panned. It had nothing to do with the internet. There was virtually no one i knew that had the internet back in 1999. We all saw the film before we saw any magazine reviews yet we all agreed that it was a pretty bad movie.

If you like the prequels then fair enough, but there are many that don't. But i don't see it to be much of a loss if people don't want to buy the prequels. That is their choice.

An 80 for Revenge of the Sith isn't exactly horrible. I think a 78 for Return of the Jedi is pretty weak, I wouldn't give it a 95 or anything. But probably at least an 82-84 would be more appropriate.

Phantom Menace in my opinion also does not have a weak script. I'll give you that some of the characters maybe didn't hold as much interest as the OT. But I think there is alot of stuff happening in TPM that is just underneath the surface that makes it very enjoyable for me.
