I would love Hammer to release an improved UK version of BRIDES OF DRACULA as the German release is expensive. That's with Universal though.

Kino Lorber announced in August they were releasing Scars of Dracula 4KUHD ! : ) No release date yet. They have a deal with Studio Canal. 2025 should be a Great year for us Hammer Fans !! : ) I can't wait. It's about time Hammer gets some 4K releases. What ever happened to ...SHE, The Viking Queen, and Slave Girls on Bluray ? : ( ?

SHE is my #1 Hammer want. God knows when Warner Archive will get around to it (I imported their DVD just so I can have it in the correct 'scope ratio). I'd also buy Prehistoric Women, a real guilty pleasure, but fun. I don't think that The Lost Continent has been released on Blu-ray here, if it has been, I've missed it.

No UK release of The Lost Continent but there is a German release. Can't speak for its quality as I don't own; happy enough with the US release.

That is what I thought, but they specifically mentioned releasing a film that redefined the genre. If it is not Dracula or Curse of Frankenstein, then what else could they be referring to?

Also, just noticed they will be releasing Dick Barton films, and in reference to future releases that "they will all be definitive collector's editions"

Both of those in the U.K. were Lionsgate BDs over a decade ago but still appear to be wide available.

Agree it could well be these as Lionsgate were only the licencee. The later stuff is owned by the likes of Studio Canal, Columbia. Warner, Universal so extremely unlikely to have those.

I’m waiting for the likes of the first two Quatermass and Abominable Snowman where we’ve only had DVD although imports are available,

Just sent an email to see what happened to my limited edition Kronos print for the first 250 purchasers. I was expecting it to come with my order today.

I expect that the film that 'redefined the genre' will be The Quatermass Xperiment as that was the film that changed Hammer's course of films. And of course it's owned outright by Hammer themselves

Yeah, their initial email did say the print would be sent with the set, but I wonder if they decided to sent them separately? Perhaps the print was too large for the custom packing box they used?

hmm. Interesting. Would not have thought about it, but I see your point. Already have the three Quatermass films from Kino and Shout, so doubt I will double dip. They were pretty stacked releases.

Well, they've teased Four-Sided Triangle and that's good! It's those neglected ones stuck in aged old analogue transfers and never restored before now that I'm more excited about. We've already got good Blu-rays of the majority of the "bigger" movies.

Room to Let would be a good one too, and Man in Black which is a prototype to many of their later thrillers.

Quite true. If Quatermass had not been such a success then things could've been so different. Probably no Hammer horror, or even Amicus & Tigon. Who knows?. Just think, no Black Sunday from Bava, no Dance Of The Vampires, and worst of all no Carry On Screaming !.

I know everyone goes for Dracula and The Curse of Frankenstein as Hammer's path to success, but The Quatermass Xperiment was the big career change for them. I do wonder if they will release all their releases in 4k. Can you imagine it for Nearest and Dearest?? As hammer owns that one outright

Yes have them too, but all are looking old now. Quatermass 2 still suffers in the first twenty minutes with damage. I know that Network were working on it when they went under (in their deal with Hammer that sadly didn't produce anything before Network's demise). Being interesting if Silver Salt uses that as a starting point or starts again. We have no idea who Network was using for restorations, unless it was their own in house team. Still at least after five years of Studiocanal signing to release all of Hammer's output to Network going to release all of Hammer's output we're finally getting it released. All worked out in the end.

Surely Studio Canal would be gearing up for a couple of Hammer 4Ks. It seems overdo already. If the Ealing ones sell well enough, you’d think the likes of The Devil Rides Out and Quatermass and the Pit would too.

The Final Cut edition cropped the picture to 2:1. It should’ve been 1.75:1.

As well as having over-baked colours and oversharpened.

People were very critical of the superior Shout remaster for being softer - which shows how easily fooled people still are by EE. https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&...155957&i=3&l=0

I got Shout's version of BoD mainly for the supplements. And both versions were still better than Millcreeks
