It gets better. The more truly hilarious (and frighteningly bad) info that comes out, the more I want to see it... Like I kinda can't wait to see what a cataclysmic disaster this turns out to be. Is it just me?

That said, I can't help but feel like they can't be THAT stupid but, alas it is Hollywood...

Who would have ever thought that this

would be the defining movie F4? Cannot wait to watch this train wreck. Be so much fun.

I almost hate to say it, but they got the male casting so right for that series while they got Sue Storm so wrong. Jessica Alba simply can't act.

I very much agree with this, but I had a really hard time with her eyes looking through the screen at me. It was horrifying.

I just wish ol' blue eyes could have gotten the cgi treatment, and that Galactus was given form. I absolutely loved the scenes with Johnny chasing Surfer.

This guy is playing the smartest man in the Marvel Comics universe guys. He makes Stark look like he's playing with Tinker Toys. Not in the Earth-21F universe, obviously.
I can't buy Miles Teller as Reed Richards. He doesn't look like one of the smartest men in the universe, he looks like a frat boy. I could buy him in an Abercrombie & Fitch advertisement for sweaters, that says "our prices are fantastic!" but not as Reed Richards.

I never liked the Ultimate Fantastic Four comics. So I definitely didn't want to see a movie about them.

This cast looks like they'd fit in on a show on the CW. It's just not the "real" Fantastic Four to me. It's like Young Indiana Jones. When you think of Indiana Jones, you think of him as Harrison Ford, not a young kid. For me, the Fantastic Four are the Lee/Kirby Fantastic Four. Fox can keep their Mark Miller MTV Fantastic Four in a desperate attempt to appeal to the tweens who would say "ew, old people" if the Fantastic Four were mature adults or if - gasp - Reed and Sue had kids.

You know, because no one saw those Iron Man movies starring that old fart Tony Stark.

I had no problem with her eyes at all. Then again, I only saw it on TV, on TNT or something some afternoon. Might have been different in the theater.

2005 was when Jessica Alba was at her most popular. She was everywhere. They would have cast Jessica Alba as Storm if they hadn't cast Halle Berry in the role years earlier.

She didn't get the role because they thought she'd be best for Sue Storm, she got the role because she was Jessica Alba. She's a terrible actress and, as pretty as Alba is, Sue Storm isn't just pretty. Alba simply wasn't and couldn't play the strong, powerful woman that the Sue Storm of the comics is.

I don't know if Mara can do it, either. Sue is kind, warm, and empathetic, but she's also the most powerful and most dangerous member of the Fantastic Four. She's not there to just look pretty, she's a source of strength and the heart of the team. This is a woman who created hooks and sent them into Doctor Doom's brain when he sent her son Franklin to hell. She went full on mama grizzly to protect her kids.

Alba could never play that character. The Sue Storm of the Tim Story movies was just "the hot girl" of the team, that's it. She was basically a plot device for Reed and Victor's stories and barely counted as a character.

No matter which way you slice it, this has gone from being able to remotely tie in with a discernable version of what an FF movie should be, to something not even being linked in any way, shape or form to the source material it's supposed to be based on.

I don't care what way the 'fans' or 'supporters' of this stupidity want to call it, but it's no longer going to rank on any comic fans list of 'Best Superhero Movies' but maybe the 'Worst' list.

The difference between a proper comic book movie and this, is that at least they adapt the spirit and source material as best as possible in an authentic manner for the movie medium. This is neither faithful, nor will it likely hold the same sort of spirit in the dynamic created by those character in the comic.

I'll watch it, and maybe even enjoy it, but this is NOT a Fantastic Four movie to me any longer. It's just got the name.
I was on board with you until those last two sentences; I will NOT be watching this garbage.

Every time a news tidbit is released regarding the other big superhero films (Superman vs Batman, Avengers, etc), an anti-news tidbit is released from the FF4 crew/cast.

And it seems like a different person gets a turn to troll the media. This time it was Tony to do so, especially saying "I may die by saying this but Doom's story is..." It's as if cast member is dying to get a turn to prank the media and internet folk.

Good god this. one thousand percent, this sums up what's wrong with their casting choices. I want to see the team that is like Marvel's royal family, the team that everyone else looks up to. I want to see a marvelously CGI'd Thing yell, "It's clobberin' time!" I want to see a well-oiled team beat the likes of villains other heroes cannot hope to defeat. I want to see Reed create the ultimate nullifier, and pull it out of his pocket in a standoff with Galactus, which summons the presence of Uatu. Show the cosmic beings that were in the F4's rolodex. Something worthy of them being called the Fantastic Four.

But in all seriousness, why has Jamie Bell been so quiet? Have we heard a peep from him?

Not sure what's more annoying. The disdain of the studio, the scriptwritter and the director for the source material, or the strong feeling every time an actor opens their mouth about the movie that they think comic books are for losers?
"But but Please do go see our movie, comic book nerds!"
