Yeah. It has no chance in hell of happening. One of the primary rules of Lucasfilm was "No Core Resurrections"

The Emperor got around that rule case he wasn't a main character. That of course has changed quite a bit with the PT.

But in the EU, the insane Jedi Clone Joruus C'baoth was supposed to originally be a faulty clone of Obi-Wan. Rejected!

Anakin/Vader's story is done. We got the Rise, Fall, and Redemption of Anakin Skywalker. There's nowhere to go.

If anything we MIGHT see some new Sith Lord take the mantle up or something. But it won't be Anakin himself.

Maul's already been brought back in the Official Canon. In the Clone Wars TV Series. So been there, done that.

Well, technically he never really died in Episode I. Just got cut in half. Thank god Lightsabers cauterize wounds.

Besides, Darth Maul was a horrible character that fandom latched onto. All style and no substance. Just like Boba Fett.

He was just Darth Sidious' pit bull enforcer character. He didn't have the Sith Lord class of Palpatine, Dooku, or Vader.

All Maul served to prove was that Palpatine was a terrible teacher. And was better off corrupting and turning Jedis.

I don't consider that "canon". Only the movies. Clone Wars is animated fan fiction.

The "Official Canon" disagrees with you. Which is the 6 Films, The Clone Wars, and the Darth Sidious novel.

I consider them to be official. They have the Lucasfilm logo at the beginning as well as the fact that Lucas comes up with the story lines. They are not "fan fiction."

The only thing I hate more about the Internet than "source?" is the word canon.

Lucas has said that 'The Clone Wars' is official canon. He's directly involved in it and it's accurate. So much so that it did a retcon of the novels that were written and the author didn't finish the series. It's most definitely official by Lucasfilm standards and plays a part into whole saga.

Whatever, guys. Love yall, but I've heard that "Lucas sanctioned" excuse on every bit of EU stuff going back a long, long way. For me, and again, let me stress, for ME, only the films matter. Everything else, for me, is just officially licensed fan fiction.

RUMOR: Darth Vader To Return For New STAR WARS Movies?

Yes, the Dark Lord Of The Sith was most definitely dead as a doornail - and a frickin ghost to boot - at the end of Return Of The Jedi, but the latest rumor regarding the new Disnif
ied Star Wars flicks is that the big guy will be making a comeback..

It's saltshaker time again, but the UK Express reckon "industry insiders" have told them that Disney plan to resurrect Vader for their new Star Wars trilogy. The site report that despite being very, very dead at the end of Return Of The Jedi, and even appearing to his son Luke Skywalker as a ghost, the ultimate movie villain will indeed be wheezing his way back to the big screen.

According to "a film mole"..

“He’s an integral part of the franchise. Replacing him is virtually impossible. The plan is for him to return and play a significant role in the new films. This is science fiction remember, Darth Vader will rise from the ashes.”

Vader IS the most recognizable, iconic aspect of the Star Wars saga so I wouldn't have a hard time believing that the studio/film makers would be interested in bringing him back in some capacity, if it wasn't for how he checked out in Jedi. The above quotes do raise a good point though - what is really out of bounds in sci-fi/fantasy these days? Still, I'm gonna need more solid info before I'm convinced.

If they bring him back there is no way in heck I will go see this.

I just read that over at IMDB, but what read, is that it's not in the ST, but a whole seperate trilogy altogether, taking place between ROTS and ANH, - Episodes 3.333, 3.666 and 3.999. Lol.

Yes. While the EU stuff is sanctioned by Lucasfilm. It's not "Official Canon". It's like Elseworld stories in comics.

Lucasfilm maintains levels of canon for the Star Wars universe. And it's just the movies, Clone Wars, and Darth Sidious novel that matter.

There's a huge difference between fan fiction and official canon. Whether you agree or not, that's the official word of what counts.

But Lucasfilm doesn't own it any longer

Doesn't matter. It's being run hands-off just like Marvel. The levels of canon continuity will remain.

And levels of canon has to exist. Because there's so many different takes and explorations on the universe.

While I don't like it either, Lucasfilm has made it clear that the animated Clone Wars series is on par with the original films for inclusion into the canon of Star Wars. It was one of the big selling points of the series when it first premiered.

From what I understand, the "rule of thumb" is all of the EU material is considered canon unless it somehow contradicts the films, at which point the films take precedence.

Why don't you like it? The Clone Wars Series is better than the PT imo.

Maul had a cool presence, but Dooku was far more interesting, and it also showed that Jedi could be turned. I am perfectly happy with the way it played out.

I am curious: Doe the Darth Sidious novel spell out that Palpatine is Anakin's father, as implied in ROTS?

I always think of it that way now, as it's the only explanation for Anakin's conception, which links directly to Palpatine's sith tale.

The crazy thing is that this means the throne room sequence featured the grandfather, the dad, and the son.

The grandfather trying to have his grandson kill his own son.

The son trying to make his son join him to kill his own father,

and so on. Really sick stuff. Lol

I see it the same way, but I guess the Clone Wars are officially Lucas canon.

To me, only the movies matter so far.

I would love to see that!!!!!!!!!!!

Or between Episode II and III, or heck even I and II.

There are so many possibilities.

Oops, but The Clone Wars are taking place between II and III, right?

So, either between I and II, or III and IV then.

I thought Clone Wars was aimed at 8 to 12 year olds. I remember when the movie came out, people said it was obvious it's oriented to tweens. That's why I don't watch it (that, and I absolutely hated the hand-drawn Clone Wars animated cartoon series...)

I'm not disagreeing with what you're saying, but I love that you're all defending this as Official Canon because George Lucas said it was...the same Lucas that told everyone he was planning on making 9 films and then, when starting on the second trilogy, told everyone that they were the ones who were wrong and he'd never even mentioned 9, but just 6; the same Lucas that pretty much lies about everything related to Star Wars (what's that, George? You won't see any more Star Wars films made in your lifetime? Well done with that )
