Did you really see an explosion of altered UI/OS in those Folder/Trophy pictures?

The folder ones look identical.
The trophy ones take you to the actual trophy without leaving the game.

The UI is fine except for one main thing. The way it handles game organization. I could do without an activity feed as well but I get how they need to cater to the always connected ADD generation.

Aye, not a fan of iTunes. Neither am I & I have over 1K tunes. They recently decided "who needs shuffle for all songs?"

Maybe a custom image over the folder would be an option..

I'd do it if I didn't have so many games installed.

I know the risks are very small for firmware beta's to brick your PS4 or OS but I can't take that risk.

Yep, with MGSV right around the corner I don't want to risk bricking my one and only PS4, even if I do have the option to roll back to 2.57

With Sony's track record of broken updates I would not want to beta test any kind of update for them on my PS4.

But these are beta builds and you are volunteering to be someone that get's to find out if there are any console breaking bugs in the code before general public gets the fixed version!

The risk is there but like I said it's a small one & Mav made a very good point. Some of these updates of late haven't been.. Stable. The bigger ones which gave ya lots new features.

All kidding aside I'm sure there won't be any major issues, I haven't really heard any horror stories from the Xbox preview program so I doubt there will be any bricked consoles here either. I'd be interested in seeing the small print though, I expect you have to agree to not blame Sony of a console does get bricked.

MS never really screws up on updates though. Sony is usually always screwing up updates. I also doubt we'll see any bricked consoles but knowing Sony I expect issues. They can never seem to get OS updates right.

The Beta programme has been ongoing at Sony for a while just that this is the first time they have publicly opened up for submissions. I wonder what made them do that.

I can see 2 reasons for the public opening. Though it is weird why they went public. Most updates are just stability updates. They don't add new features as much as MS does for the X1.

1- MS has had great success with it and Sony wanted to get in on it to.

2- They were sick of updates changing things, breaking others they decided they needed more beta testers.

I would actually hope this is not the case, and I would never agree to such terms myself. Since the volunteers are not otherwise being compensated for their service, they are taking a risk without due consideration. Unlike, say, a vaccine trial where you leave with a check each time you get injected or they draw your blood.
