I'm not sure if a 3-hour runtime is a great idea, but apparently this is just par for the course for Villeneuve, so I'm not super worried. It'll probably be a lot shorter for the final cut.*

*Assuming this doesn't end up like the original and we have like 20 different cuts

If someone had said Gosling didn't fit the role or the story was a mess, then those are legit complaints. Pacing shouldn't be an issue, it's a slow burn sci fi and that's how Scott intended it to be and I'm sure Villeneuve wants it like that too.

I don't see anything to be worried about. The rough cut the test audiences watched was nearly three hours long. Of course they're going to trim it down and tighten things a bit. It's right there - they did the same for Villeneuve's previous two pictures. That report in no way, shape or form suggests the studio will try and turn it into a Bay-like actioner.

The film is supposed to be slow-paced. Nearly three hours is a bit much, but I don't mind it. I'm glad that Denis treats the film really well.

But a 160-165 minute running time with Deckard not showing up til the 2 hour mark is gonna turn off moviegoers. They probably do need to tighten up the final cut of the film.

I understand that. Tighten the film, but not too much that it becomes butchered.

Plus a CGI villain with little backstory to fight at the end.

Or a troop of faceless henchmen (or henchreplicants) for the protagonist to fight.
