Oh yeah that is old news. It was announced awhile back. And nothing, they are adding nothing to it. It is probably being increased to cover overhead charges and the overall cost of returns and fuel and the like.

People that had Prime already will be grandfathered into the new price while anyone joining now will pay the $100.

This was posted back in March 2014.

Current Amazon Prime members will pay the increased fee when they renew, starting on April 17. Any new customer who signs up starting March 20 will also pay $99. The good news, at least for those without Prime yet, is that the $79 price will be available for the next week for new customers.
The same thing is happening to Netflix. That is going up to I believe $8.99/$9.99 and we will all be grandfathered into that price. When, I don't think it has been announced yet.

It about as bad as the new over the air surcharge increase for local channels. If I recall they said antenna was still going to be free. haha well I guess they wanted their money anyway.

On one hand, it sucks to have it go up. On the other, I no longer live close to any store but wal-mart, and their blu-ray selection sucks. Especially for anime. Amazon is where I do 95% of my shopping, and having two day shipping is wonderful. I order something every single week. It more than pays for itself after a bit, plus all the movies/shows I can stream is a cool bonus.

Man that sucks. And yeah Anime at WM is pretty much non existent. And even if it is there usually it is DVD.
My BB is 45 minutes one way as is the WM. My Target is 1 hour and 20 minutes one way. So for me doing to BB is usually a once a week thing. I don't like to waste gas so I try to plan all my trips around going into town so I feel ya.
I like my BB though because the staff are awesome and pretty much will bend over backwards to help me. Then again it really helps to get to know the people that work are your local retail stores as well. I order from Amazon and had been recently till I started ordering from RS. I would say my online orders will shift from BB, Amazon, and RS depending on the prices.

The only anime I've ever seen at my Walmart is Ranma ½. Nothing else on the shelves. Oddly enough, they didn't have any of the DVD edition, they were the Blu-day version.

Where do you live in New York? I lived in New York City for many years, and there were never any Wal-Mart stores in the area at all -- it is my understanding that that remains true. Are you upstate?

I live just outside the city limits. There are a few towns that straddle the Queens/Nassau border, I'm in one of them. On the Nassau side.

I get all the benefits of living close enough to the city to visit, without having to pay city property tax.

Good thing my Prime account expires in March. I'll just miss the price hike. However, I'll need to rethink about it next year. Of course, if I get into the PhD program I have applied to, I will have a school address I can use to get a discount.

Hope you get into that program Vlad, I wish you luck.
And yeah I'm lucky because I have a family member that is generously letting me ride along. I told them I would help out but they refused to take my offer.
Since I'm not in school then I don't have a .edu to use and would have to pay that stupid $100 for it.
Although I have thought about using my GI Bill though.

Just so everyone knows, the Prime price hike already happened. It happened some months ago. Back in November I looked into joining, and the website said it would be $99. Where are you getting it from that the change happens in March of this year?

I don't recall where I got the March date.

For new customers it's indeed $100, but for existing Prime accounts it's $80 until their renew date passes a specific deadline, which may have already passed.

Edit: It has passed: I'll be paying full price when mine renews this month.

Wow forget it I'll wait and see if Amazon releases a dvd or Blu Ray of the show that's crazy. If they did a monthly charge more people would join but having to pay yearly not many people can afford that plus if they keep raising price. There crazy

So, not entirely related to Sailor Moon, but has anyone heard of Cute High Earth Defense Club Love? It's like... a male version of Sailor Moon. The anime just started last week. Here's a link about it:

Yep it was briefly mentioned here.

I'm sure Pony Can will sell it here in the US and over charge for it.

Found it. Thank you. Will be watchng it now.

Edit: So I watched the first episode, and it's pretty good. I also like that the transformations were fast, I wish Sailor Moon transformed that fast. I think I'll need to find another source for episode 2 (maybe Hulu?) as CrunchyRoll says I need to be a premium member to watch it.

You have to wait a extra week if you are not a premium member to watch simulcast episodes on crunchyroll.

I'm not either, unless of course there's (homoerotic) fanservice. Which is... actually not all that uncommon, come to think of it.

Viz would never put the money into it*, but wouldn't it be awesome if they could work with the cast of the live-action show to redub their own voices in English and release the show on Blu-ray in this country both subbed and dubbed?

*Especially since a couple of them are high paid models now, it would cost Viz a bloody fortune if they did this...
