I'm guessing they are either MVD exclusive or splitting releases now with Vinegar Syndrome, as maybe they plan to release more than one film a month. As far as I can see no Vinegar Syndrome partner has released more than one Blu Ray in any month or more than 12 releases a year. (except, foreign labels like Subkultur and Umbrella, who release multiple Blu Ray's in home markets but not more than one in a month through Vinegar Syndrome) It seems like the labels are restricted to one a month, although most don't release one a month. Maybe Fun City with their success plan to expand on how many releases they do in a year, more than 12. That could also be why Terror Vision also left. That's my educated guess, hopefully they do increase they have had many quality films released.

AGFA just did two in December. That's the only time.

Either way disappointing news. I'm not pre-ordering from mvd. I don't get why you'd downgrade distributors. Hope it works out for the label but it is definitely not helping me get their titles which clearly doesn't help the label. I've bought every title as soon as available prior to this.

Yes, and I think that was because Batpussy is a reissue of a previously released title.

Yeah, it was. Loophole!
It was cool they did another along with the reissue. Hope for that every time they reissue a title.

What is disappointing about MVD? I own twice as many MVD releases as VS ones. Never had an issue buying them anywhere, preorder or otherwise.

Well, for starters they don't ship to Canada. Secondly MVD's distributor up here is useless. One thing VS does well is allow Canadians to get stuff at decent prices without having to pay import taxes. I own all the Fun City titles VS released but as of now I'm out as well. Nothing against the label, it's more so it was convenient to add to my box vs import title by title. It gets expensive quickly. I think it's a different story for Americans. None the less I wish FC the best of luck

If you're in Canada, I can see there being such issues. The poster didn't mention anything about what their issue is though, which is why I wondered what specifically was the problem for them.

uh.. it's an option and i started an order with the address for a random musuem in canada and... it gave a shipping cost ($17.95 for two movies). So you might want to check again, things could have changed. https://mvdshop.com/

That’s a good point about the monthly limit. Makes sense that VS wouldn’t want a partner label releasing as many titles a month as the mainline. Fun City might’ve had no choice but to find a second distributor to expand.

Thanks. If they ship to Canada now that's great news. I've tried in the past but couldn't accomplish anything

Edit... you're right, it works. This is great news as I can avoid these clowns in Canada now for certain releases

There is an Amazon.com pre-order link as well Party Girl

My problem is that FCE titles have now become so much more expensive than the convenience of being able to order directly from VS in Canada.

It was the same problem with Terror Vision leaving the VS fold, but at least there they offered a direct subscription with a reasonable Canadian shipping rate.

This is the very first FCE release available from MVD. We can assume the MSRP is $39.95 because that's typically the price you see when Amazon first lists a new release, and then it drops before release date. For example, here's a $39.95 list price title that's current pre-order price is now $27.99. But it hasn't even shown up on MVD's site yet, so how are you determining already that it's more expensive and less convenient than VS?

More convenient in the sense that VS shipped from within Canada (so no customs or high shipping rates). Not to mention if you had the VS sub, you could get free shipping (although that would apply to both US and Canadian customers)

Interesting. So how does VS ship from within Canada? I'm not a VS sub and paying ~$1K isn't worth it to me.

They have a distribution facility in Toronto. All Canadian orders ship from there. A non-sub Canadian would need to spend $100 (3 - 4 titles) and would get free shipping.

They drop ship into Canada and use a guy in Toronto to ship across Canada. In the US you guys have an exemption of $200 when importing, for us it's $20 so even if we buy from Amazon.com and it's $30 USD we have to pay import fee / tax / shipping

Amazon link for example is $39.95 USD + 9.95 USD shipping to Canada + import fee. This is around 60-70 CAD. With VS I was paying $23-$26 CAD for my FCE titles (based on $40 MSRP) depending on exchange rate shipped to my door since shipping was flat rate and I was buying VS titles anyhow, so about 2.5x more expensive now

Again, MSRP of $39.95 today is not a real price, so why use that example? All of the other bits in a Canadian's favor make sense though.
