I agree that it had promise and the first season was the best but it almost seemed like the writers were surprised at the success and didn't know what to do next.

I hated it that Peter lost his powers and while it's fair to say he would have become too powerful, that in itself would have been a good story; what happens when a humble ordinary man get powers that pretty much turn him into a God? What would that do to you? It may be that he would have seen himself as beyond mere human and looked down on us, unwittingly becoming an enemy of sorts? Instead the writers ran out of ideas for him so just changed his ability to make their job easier.

I'm not surprised to see Heroes cancelled, but it's a shame because I'm sure the writers, with hindsight, will kick themselves for not doing more with these great characters.

Not surprised. So much potential, but it squandered it. Instead of watching the same characters whine about thier powers in every season (except for Sylar- easily the best part of the show), they should have either done a full blown super-hero series (maybe not the colorful costumes, but actually have people using their powers in the open being - you know -heroes) or rotated characters out every season, keeping some in constantly (Noah Benett and Sylar, for example), while rotating those out that wanted out (Parkman, Claire).

Either way, so much wasted potential.

I stopped liking it after the first season. I still watched the second and third but I wasn't nearly as interested as I was with the first.

Heroes ended its season last February with the indestructible Claire (Hayden Panettiere) throwing herself from the top of a Ferris wheel in front of the media, revealing her superpower to the world. Should the axed series return with a wrap-up miniseries—that's creator Tim Kring's hope, and he says he's meeting with NBC this month to discuss it — the plot will skip ahead a year or so to see the effect of Claire's revelation.

"There will be a huge cultural and social change in the world," says Kring. "Some [of our characters] will be hiding, some struggling, some basking in the glory."

Claire, who desperately wanted a normal life, will become a reluctant spokesperson for the abnormals. Sylar (Zachary Quinto) will again struggle with his dark side. And Adrian Pasdar will likely return, though not as Nathan, who died.

Kring is confident he can lure back his entire cast if he gets a green light. (NBC refused to comment.)

"I've spoken with everyone," says Kring. "They're all eager to participate."

People who desperately want normal life and want to be left alone do not jump from 10 story high platform asking journalists, cameraman and spotlights to focus on her.
It is more of an attention W$^e behavior, and Claire was very cranky and annoying in addition to that last few seasons.

She did that to avoid what happened the previous season when they were hunted down in secret, because nobody knew anything and allowed the government to portray them all as threats.

This way THEY can control the narrative and tell their story. No more hiding, no more letting them be hunted down and killed or imprisoned.

Her actions were motivated by trying to protect all of them. Unless I'm totally misreading it. lol

She finally realized that she CAN'T have a normal life, because she's not normal. She's tired of having to hide who she is from everyone that she meets and grows to love.

Here's a short writeup about the possibility of a mini-series wrapup. Apparantly some will STILL be hiding.

According to Sci-Fi Wire, although the NBC hit television show Heroes may be off the air, it won't be for good. Series creator Tim Kring plans on doing a mini-series that takes place one year after the finale of the original television show, giving fans a glimpse into the future one last time.

Again, the characters in the Heroverse will be struggling to deal with their powers, hiding from those who want to hurt them, and others just letting it all hang out.

All the main pieces are in place, and all the actors said they are willing to return, but as of yet, NBC has not commented on whether or not this mini-series will actually happen. Should this mini-series happen though? Do enough people still care about this show in order to warrant it a mini-series? Sure the first season was pretty good, and I'll even say half of the second season was pretty darn entertaining, but after that, I personally couldn't care less, and there's many people with that same mindset out there. And as much as I want to say that this could be a ridiculous waste of money, the show does have a hardcore fan-base that will do anything to see Clare heal after getting her arm chopped off once again. Did you like this show? Do you think there should be a mini-series?

She made a decision for everyone else, self appointed PR of heroes so to speak. Now, I dunno about "heroes" but I'd be pretty pissed off if some dumb teen decided to represent interests of my "group" and appointed herself to that position.

Terrific, now media can portray them all as attention starving cranky teens.
As for the threats, the biggest threat to Claire and some of the ppl around her was Claire. Her stupidity to be precise.

Highly unlikely. Considering most of them didn't wanna come out. And given uncertain public reaction to their abilities, it is just as, or even more likely government hunting them down with public support.
Besides, who are they, it's just Claire who was desperate to be important, other than that there was nobody else trying to come out.
It'll be highly satisfactory to see her as a lab rat in the closing movie or whatever they make it.

The creator is still hopeful of a mini-series. I find it funny how he says they care about fans yet made seasons 2-4 a shitfest. I know shows have a bad season every now and then but come on 3 bad seasons before being canceled is just awful.

Apparently, all the actors were ready to get the ball rolling. "I've spoken with everyone," Kring said in June. "They're all eager to participate."

Could Kring follow the Joss Whedon/'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' model and do a new season in comic form? Maybe. "We told stories in volumes that had a beginning, a middle, and an end," Kring told EW. "Those volumes could go on and on and on with many different characters. As a result, that 'Heroes' universe is something that can be tapped into again in many ways."

So there we have it Unless some other network like Syfy decides to pick it up, it looks like Heroes is dead in the water and they won't be any closure for fans. At least on TV.

I’m rewatching season one. Season one is honestly some of the best television I have ever seen. It’s such a pity after season one the series went to shit. This should have been a one season show like Firefly. I think the show runners put everything they had into the first season and had nothing left for the following seasons.

Season 2 got screwed up by the writers strike that year. They didn’t know how long it was going to last so they scrapped plans they had for the season so they’d complete the story arc before the strike.
