I have two 1100's and a Harmony1 remote from them. All three look brand new even though they were refurbished by the company.

Spend a $100 and get a remote that proves that they did "definitely need to to invest some time and money there"

I'm looking into buying a harmony remote just trying to decide which is the best one I'm torn between the touch and the ultimate and the 700 for those with experience with any of these what's your opinion on them

It all depends on what you are looking for and how much you want to spend.

As for me, I own two Harmony 1100s and the Harmony One. I have set up the 650, 700, 880, 900 and the Ultimate Touch for neighbors.

Of all the above, I love the 1100 because I use a lot of commands for my system and the 1100 make it easier.

I didn't care that much for the Ultimate Touch. It's OK but I feel the 1100 is better for me.

Of all the remotes, I think the Harmony One was the best built and easiest to use.

If you want something other than what Harmony now has, talk to Q.

Q, has been repairing and selling refurbished Harmony remotes for a long, long time. I have purchased many, many from him for myself and neighbors. He has a 3 month warranty with any remotes that he sells and of all the remotes that I have purchased from him, not one has had a problem.

I currently have a Harmony One that's a few yrs old (3-4?), & the battery doesn't seem to be holding a charge as it once did. Now it MAY just be in need of a New battery, & I might contact the above to get their thoughts, tho I did just send them an email to see if he sells the 1100 (refurb or new units), to see what price point he might have. eBay has some new & used, & I've been trying to get one the last cpl days but missed out (prices went from $187-262 or so).

For my use, the ONE is prob the best as I don't have a lot of gear for it to work for or with (AVR, DVR, OPPO-83, SHARP 70" LCD, & soon, an Emotiva XPA-3).

Well, the battery would be for the Harmony One. But, just $135 for the 1100 ??!! Might want to look into that after all !

He replied already btw, said if my battery is an older Blue Labeled one, it might need replacing.

I have the 650 set up and only real reason I purchased this is to make things easier on the wife when am not around. I set up to control 3 activities. Watch TV, Watch Movie and Watch smart TV.

I need to set up a watch TV option where it puts my receiver on standby so the receiver doesn't use the floor speakers.

Not sure if anyone has had this issue but any guidance will be appreciated

Just make a new activity and live the receiver off on that one and make sure the pass thru is set to the cable box input.

Easy if you bought an AVR with...

HDMI passthrough in standby.

If your AVR doesn't have that. New AVR.

Well, here's what he sent me a few mins ago. Now I REALLY have some thinking to do. $12-35 for a replacement battery, or just $138 or an 1100...

A refurbished 1100 with cradle/AC adapter and battery is $138 and comes with a 90-day warranty. If you have a swollen battery and it cannot be removed, then you can send the H1 here for removal, cleaning, inspection and the battery is replaced with a ‘non-swelling’ OEM battery for $35. If you can remove the battery yourself, you can purchase an OEM battery from Ebay for around $12.

He also just sent this:

Keep in mind that these units have been repaired and have some cosmetic wear. They are not ‘factory refurbished’, though they are typically in excellent condition. They do not come with the RF Extender.

I'm Used to the H1, but really like the look/design of the 1100 also. Having used both (& I think I know the answer), what are the pros/cons of each, or which do you prefer & why?

For me it is easy:

With the 1100, there are many commands on one page. I don't have to go through a number of pages or extra buttons to get where I want to be. The command needed is almost always right in front of me.

I like to change audio, picture size, individual speaker volume, subwoofer, etc all the time. With the 1100, I don't have to find the command. It more than likly is right there.

If one does not like to mess with their system as much as I do, the Harmony One is great.

I had a Harmony One for a bit, until I accidentally smacked it off the charging dock. It hit my sub and shattered the screen and senor. I was pissed. My friend that worked at Best Buy got me a Harmony Touch using his employee discount. It's a pretty awesome remote! It even works with my Belkin HDMI switch.

You can even customize the background image!

I agree the 1100 Is a beast. I have 6 separate remotes, tried to use the Harmony app and hub with my iPad mini with zero success. Went and brought the 1100 and It works like a dream. went and purchased a 1300mah battery, so no battery issues. The app wanted me to turn off hdmi cec, but with the 1100 I didn't even have to.
