DLC is quite commonly digital download only, nothing new here. They are doing the physical release to cater for those who have not owned the game before, and in buying it, will have all content up front. This is a good thing, we will have more folks in the game world now with all content available.

I think they have offered a stellar deal for new players, and for the old guard, supposedly a lot of content for $40.

Ok, well I guess that makes sense. I just like the packaging and stuff included in the Collector's Edition. But yeah, $40 for the new content seems fine by me.

$40, while it seems a bit high for an expansion vs the price of a new game, isn't what is holding me back. I watched the reveal and all I could see is more grinding. It's gonna take a lot of trips to The Archive to kill Grayliks to level up all of those subclasses, weapons and armor. I'm over killing Grayliks. Kill him your damn self, Xander 99-40. I've kill him enough for you. Curse you and your 5000 XP.

I paid $79 for Destiny, $35 for Expansion Pass and in Sept. another $40 for Taken.
That's $154 and now you can get it for $60?
They should give the players that bought it at release a bit of a deal.

The basic game was $60, Limited Edition was $100, and the Collector's Edition was $150. The expansion pass cost $35 if you had bought the basic game. If you had bought the Limited or Collector's Edition, you get both DLC 1 and 2 built into the cost. So how did you pay $79 for Destiny originally? The Taken King is supposed to be bigger than the first two DLC's, but not quite as big as a full game, so that price should be justified. But yes, I do agree that they should give early adopters a deal.

You get emblems and shaders!

It's just like the game itself every time dlc comes out. They've punished the most dedicated players since the beginning. No sense changing that now.

While this is starting to look like the game it always should have been, I have enough on my plate for the rest of the year (especially MGS5). I'll be in no rush to get this.

Exactly. The game and expansions will simply not hold the same monetary value as time passes.

That's what happens when you are an early adopter. I'm not going to complain about the price of the game/DLC. I have 700+ hours in this game not including all the time I sunk in the Alpha and Beta.

I bought the basic game for $60 and the season pass for $30 (I think there was a discount for purchasing earlier). So I have $100 in it which comes out to about $0.14 per hour of gameplay.

Personally, I am going to buy the $80 Collector's Edition because it comes with some cool stuff.
