Speaking of Han and his arc, I rewatched ROTJ yesterday and I'm SO glad that this movie is not the last movie we see Solo. He doesn't do ANYTHING in ROTJ. At All. First half: gets rescued (kills boba fett by accident). Second half: Leads battalion on Endor... BUT isn't part of any of the action. (the speeder bike chase for example). He shoots a stormtrooper in the head and manage to close a second set of doors on the bunker instead of gaining access to it. The only thing he does useful is dress as an imperial to fool the guys inside.

I really hope he gets to shine in Episode VII (especially if it's his last movie)

No. Simon Pegg supposedly started the rumor. If he's in it, at all, I'm guessing it would have to be a major role.

True dat. Han was downright useless in Jedi, which is one of the reasons why I just don't rate it all that highly. No doubt it was because Ford couldn't be arsed at that point so they didn't give him too much to do (hence Han being frozen in carbonite in Empire in the first place, they weren't sure if they could get Ford for the third film) so I sincerely hope that he's more invested in Ep VII because Han deserves better.

I'd say the real reason why Harrison Ford did VII was because of a very large cheque. The guy just never seemed to want to be associated with Star Wars.

That being said, he seemed to have been pleased with the screenplay and has been positive towards the franchise since starring in VII, although I suspect he doesn't want to upset Disney.

Watched Return of the Jedi last night due to Star Wars hype (man that transfer looks like shit now). I noticed they hype up Leia eventually becoming a jedi multiple times in that movie, so I really hope she is at least half a jedi in Force Awakens.

Wrong. Jedi being encouraged to love unconditionally had nothing to do with loving romantically. They were not allowed to have personal relationships like spouses and sons and daughters because those would be attachments that could ultimately put a Jedi in a position to choose them over their own Jedi duties. Being a Jedi is NOT an 8 hour a day, 40 hour a week job. It's a 24 hour a day, 365 day a year (or whatever the calendar is in that universe) way of life. The duties of a Jedi would be far too demanding for any kind of marital relationship to survive.

It's the same reason force-sensitive children were identified and put into the Jedi Academy shortly after birth. It's so they would have no knowledge of their natural families and have no longing to leave the order and reunite with them.

If you think about it, personal relationships are the VERY reason Anakin turned evil. It started when he went back to Tattooine to save his mother by killing the sand people and finshed when he agreed to turn to the darkside to try and save Padme's life. Having personal attachments/relationships help to create a fear of loss and as we all know "Fear is the path that leads to the darkside."

As a younger actor he did not want to get pigeonholed, true. And he really didn't like answering interview questions about the force or the hyperdrive. Not to mention that most of his interviews as a top box office draw saw him rather cantankerous throughout the years.

Recently though he's softened on it (his appearances with Chewbacca on the Kimmel show etc.) and frankly, he's softened quite a bit as a person. These days it's almost as if playing the roll of the tough interview rather than actually being one. I recommend that all fans of the guy checkout his Conan appearances over the last few years. They get along really well and those segments are super fun.

I can't read his mind, so you may be right about the money. He's joked about that kind of thing a lot. But he's already a very rich guy and has seemed genuinely excited to revisit a character who has clearly grown up, much like he himself has.

I've been reading a lot of the articles and specialized comments from entertainment websites talking about how the mask that Rey is wearing is scavenged from a stormtrooper, which is untrue. The goggles that she's wearing are actually from a snowtrooper's helmet.

It's impossible to mistake those goggles from anywhere else.

Ford seemed to really enjoy his role in Ender's Game and was actually jovial sometimes in interviews talking about how much the story touched him and how important he found the themes to be. Perhaps he felt the same way about The Force Awakens.

And yet, Craig's response is "he's jealous because he's not in it, and has a problem with JJ."

Yet we know for a fact Pegg IS in the film. We also know Pegg has no problems with JJ.

Sounds more like Craig covering it up, and trying to have fun in his "I'm a dick" sense of humor.

Does he really need the money anymore? I actually think if anything it's more about being in a relevant movie than the paycheck. His career has been on the skids for the last 15 years(aside from Indiana Jones 4). Same thing with revisiting the character of Deckard. I'm pretty sure he didn't enjoy that Blade Runner shoot very much, but he's willing to go back to that well because he knows the sequel will be a massive hit.

One other theory I have for him returning to the role of Han Solo is that I still think(and this is just speculation on my part, no spoilers) that the dude ain't gonna survive The Force Awakens. Ford has gone on record saying he thought Han should've died in Jedi, so maybe this is his way of righting a wrong 32 years later.

I'm right. Obi-Wan was able to love Anakin like a brother while still fulfilling his duty as a Jedi. The same applies to any non-possessive romantic or parental relationship. If a Jedi became a parent then it would be his or her Jedi duty to watch over the child the same way it was Obi-Wan's duty to watch over Luke on Tatooine.

Anakin turned to the dark side because he was born a slave and had fear instilled in him at a young age. Yoda noticed it right away. It wasn't a personal relationship with Padme that led Anakin to the dark side, but the possessiveness that he brought to that relationship through his fear.

I only saw the tail end of the video before so I rolled my eyes at Boyega acting like a ****, but from the full vid it's clear that he's as moved to the core as the rest (well, most) of us were, he's got tears in his eyes, the works. Brilliant stuff.
