I thought that teal here was wrong because it is revisionist, which I agree. I didn't think that teal was also an ugly color. Teal is not inherently repulsive or ugly. It looks bad when things that aren't ever supposed to be teal get tealed, specially white. White with a teal tint is not nice.

The teal in this film is not as bad as it would be in other films, because at least here we have a water setting, lots of blue, and teal is close to blue.

It is revisionist and it is an ugly color which is slapped on remasters of everything now because nobody knows what real color timing is. There is nothing good about any of it.

"Everything" is an extreme over-exaggeration. There are plenty of awesome transfers out there with no hint of teal. Most transfers are good to fantastic.

By the way, what do think of the color timing of The Three Colors' UHDs' color timing?

There are tons of scenes inside the ship though that are not blue and actually should have a warm tone, and those will not look nice if they lean towards teal. Skin tones are warm throughout the first half of the film.

If they teal out Titanic I won’t buy it. The blu ray looks great anyway. Just slap on some Dolby Vision and call it a day JC!

Multiple changes to create the Dolby Atmos mix:

1. My Heart Will Go On is now a cover version by Rebecca Black.

Titanic on 35mm wasn't overall warm either. It had a strong blue, cyan cast owing to the sea environment and to match the cold feeling of the Atlantic ocean and the iceberg. So, an outdoor shot on the decks would look blue-ish at night but the moment you enter inside the deck the picture would become warm, with lots of yellow, brown and hot whites.

The previous 2D/3D Blu-ray or the 2012 theatrical release did not have adequate colour separation or contrast as strong as the 35mm prints. I think it was a limitation of the digital colour correction back then, which may have improved today. It's possible that the UHD will return to the look of the projected 35mm or 70mm prints.

If the theatre release this year didn’t have it then surely it’ll be the same as the one we saw in February.
