actually more then the limited if you got in on the preorder price diabolik had when the limited first was released. The preorder price for the limited from them was originally $122 shipped, so $114 without shipping included

Yeah my set was $136 after tax from Amazon. Amazon would probably have the standard sets for $72.99 each by release date. The standard sets sure are not aimed at customers waiting for a cheaper alternative.
At least they'd be only $50 each during a 50% off sale if you wait around long enough.

I feel they know a lot of people missed out on the limited and they know the fans will be happy just to have the movies, and will pay whatever arrow feels like charging

I am so happy Arrow are releasing these!!! Already pre-ordered on Unobstructed view here in Canada, going to cost me 2$ more than my box set which is quite disappointing. Hopefully it goes down in price!

Im happy with my limited boxset. I just finished making custom cases for the boxset as well as the Criterion Godzilla, and they both share a monster section of my media shelf living in harmony!

I actually prefer the packaging on these new box sets so I will probably sell my limited edition as it’s still sealed and probably will be worth a lot over time.

So what's the rationale for charging the same MSRP for both sets despite one having half the films? Is it because they're considered the best ones so they are worth double? I know both sets come with 4 discs, but I was still surprised the 4-film set had the same $99.95 MSRP as the 8-film one.

Not unusual for that price point.

Ringu Collection - 4 films, 3 discs
He Came from the Swamp: The William Grefé Collection - 6 films, 4 discs
The Herschell Gordon Lewis Feast (standard edition) - 14 films, 7 discs

All have the same $99.95 MSRP.

A 8-disc 12 film standard set for Gamera would have made sense at that price considering the price for the LE. But as someone else said - Arrow knows it will sell.

So there's still a chance of getting the limited boxset depending how many returns Amazon gets.

Like I said before I still have my LE set sealed & am thinking the same. Might get the 2 more shelf friendly sets.

They’re 44.99gbp on zavvi with the steelbook at 34.99. April’s Easter sale will either mean 2 for 1 or 50% off, so around $59 USD for the pair and then the steelbook would be an additional 17.50 gbp or $23 USD.

Huge disappointment that these cases will be the cheap thinner stock.

The price points would make you think that we would see the thicker chipboard style.

Yeah, these are crazy expensive. No booklets already, i'm still overjoyed these are coming out but for this price (as much as the limited box set), i'd expect better. :/

Certainly far better than most esp for boxsets. Everything I've ordered from them (not much to be honest) has arrived in a box with at least one layer of bubblewrap.

I pre-ordered both sets from DiabolikDVD. Amazon would throw them in a bubble mailer for sure.
